Oh, I had one of these in 1972 for a year in London UK. I'd gas it up in June , then again in August - such is the fuel consumption of this little motor. Never missed a beat, robust, simple effective Honda brilliance. Wish I still had this in my collection. Very nice restoration by the way!

Very nice restoration! I had two PC50's, a 1975 in red and a replacement 1976 in blue from Cycle World in Scarborough. I remember filling it up at BP for around 25 cents....

Very nice work ! I pick up on of these yesterday, a red one. It needs a few things; front fender, chain guard, tail light lens and headlamp, front sprocket and one pedal. Anyway, would love to see my son ride this when he turns 14. Trying to figure out the year of the bike. Thanks for the video !

Hello Chris, I really thank you and enjoyed this video - what a beauty. I have a late 1969/70 Red Little Honda PC50EA that looks to have the same setup, with the OHV. Wondered if you could answer a couple questions. I inherited this bike from my Dad, and I'm just an ok mechanic with basic tools. I found the avenues for parts, CMS/Myrons Mopeds/Treatland. I have cleaned and replaced new parts in the carb. Seems to start right up every time and runs ok at idle and slow speed but sputters intermittently at med to full throttle. I adjusted the rocked tappets (didn't really need much movement) and same with the timing according to the online honda manual. It has new fresh fuel. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I wish there was someone in my area that knew how to tune up to perfection this bike as it is a blast to ride here in san diego. thank you Michael

thankfully these are simple engines and you should be able to find and fix the problem I would start with ensuring the needle is set in the correct slot. secondly, i would run back through the ignition system -- double checking the points gap and changing the plug and wires (if you have not already) weak or mistimed spark tends to show up in the upper rpms from experience, slow speed problems are much more challenging to fix than high speed ones. so feel confident that it will be a easy fix.

@@kiki231000 Hello Chris, thank you so much for the reply and helpful information. I'll proceed accordingly. I did replace the spark plug, but perhaps replacing the wire is a good idea...might be hard to find..but will look. Happy holiday season

Hi Chris, nice bike and walk through video. Currently doing a PC50 and would love to know the colour code or name for the blue paint. It looks very original. Thanks and ride safe.

Unfortunately, i had a local shop paint it, so he simply color matched what was on the bike

Hello, I was wondering you could help me out. I have a PC50E-D and need a spark plug cap for it. Any idea where I could get on of these and if it is something that is a universal fit. Also, do you know if E-D is 73 model? Thanks!

Nice job! Were in Canada are you located? I’m in Vancouver and thinking of doing a similar project ... so I’m wondering if parts availability is limited to where in Canada you are, or just us hosers in general. Cheers and stay healthy!

Actually all of the spares I found (except the handlebars from Kijiji) were sourced in the Netherlands (CMSNL) as well as California (Treatland)

HI Christ. Thanks , great video. I picked up a 1977 yesterday and plan on restoring. I am not getting any spark on the sparkplug but the lights and horn comes on when i turn the engine over. I assume this is the other coil that needs replacing. Where did you source the coils? Do you have a part number I can look for please? Thanks and regards.
@kiki2310004 жыл бұрын
Anton Peters you want to try CMSNL on line. Also try Treatland. Both were great resources for me. BTW, test your coil before replacing, as it may just need to be adjusted

Cant wait till you do some vids on restoring the RT on Lockdown 😁, Cool little bike, How did you go with cleaning the chrome?Ive got an old 535 XS thats in need of some treating but im nog going to flog myself on a full restoration. Take care.
@kiki2310004 жыл бұрын
The chrome presented a couple challenges. One piece ( the handlebar) was too far gone and i was lucky to find one that was still new (old) stock. VERY lucky. The Headlight bezel was lightly rusted with very little pitting, so I sent it to a company for re-chroming (45 bucks). They soda blasted it smooth, then did a proper chrome plate. I considered a spray-on coating, --- they are good, but they don't match a real plating. I have a home plating kit that can do small parts with nickel, and it looks very good, but it would take me a week to do anything substantial.

Chris, unrelated video question. Just watched your 3 part video on your 2013 K1600 GT. Why did you go back to the RT? Looking at used K's and RT's. Just curious. Thanks.
@kiki2310004 жыл бұрын
The RT simply fits me much better and is much lighter.
