I don't like them turned into clown cars with ridiculous wheels and tires, hydraulics, or outrageous paint schemes. Most times. What I like is the style and personality of cars from the bygone eras, and programs like this that allow us to still enjoy them, even when we can't afford them. Thanks, guys.

scott satren Agreed! But I think I read somewhere that FM3 was a 1970 only paint option and didn’t make it to ‘71.
@512bb5 жыл бұрын
@@anridapu Well your partially correct, it was technically released for the Spring of 1970 & as a matter of fact it was never even printed in any of the Mopar brochures however you could actually special order the color in 1971. I actually owned a FM3 1971 Cuda back in the early 80s as well as a 1970 FM3 T/A 340 6 Pack Challenger. One point of interest is even though you may have seen FM3 Superbirds they actually never built one at the factory as they were all built in 1969 before FM3 was released. All I can say is if it is a Challenger or Cuda its gotta be the Purple or Pink at least for me.

I'm now 38 years old and still have an undying love for this car. I dream of a lighter (maybe carbon fiber or fiberglass replica with a modernized suspension. If I were rich, I would remake this car out of light weight materials and it would be shorter and wider... perhaps even AWD 😮. I know that last statement will get me a lot of hate but, at least I love old school muscle

I've always been more of a fan of B-Body Mopar's but the 1970-71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda's are basically the Holy Grail of American muscle cars...especially Hemi Cuda convertibles. I believe only 21 of them were ever made between 1970(14) and 71(7). Saw a 71 fetch $3.5 million at an auction back in 2014 I think...the most expensive American muscle car ever sold

When it comes to regular production cars (not limited runs like 1 out of 50), the Hemi Cuda was king of the hill. Stock vs stock, nothing would outrun it...not an LS6 Chevelle, not a Stage 1 Buick, and certainly nothing from Ford. It represented the pinnacle of the musclecar era.
@johnnytyler56853 жыл бұрын
LMFAO! Your comment is FULL of nonsense my friend. First of all, if you don't consider Hemi Cudas to be "limited runs", then what is a "limited run"? A ZL1 Camaro would have NO PROBLEM with a Hemi Cuda at the strip and they made 69 total 1969 ZL1 Camaros. You'll probably call that a "limited run", yet in 1971 they made just ELEVEN Hemi Cuda convertibles and 108 hardtops. How could ANYONE claim that 119 total cars is NOT a "limited run"? In 1967, GM built 20 L88 Corvettes and then built 80 of them in 1968 and 116 of them in 1969. EVERYONE considers L88 Corvettes to be "limited", yet in 1969 alone they built 116 of them while Plymouth built 119 Hemi Cudas in 1971. By comparison, Chevrolet built a whopping (by comparison) 4,475 total LS6 Chevelles in 1970, although that number includes Chevelle SS hardtops, Chevelle SS convertibles and SS El Caminos. Second, the Hemi cars where obviously fast, but they were (or ARE today at least) incredibly overrated in real life driving or drag racing situations back in the day. There are COUNTLESS "internet experts" these days who act like Hemi cars were totally unbeatable on the streets or at the strip back in 1970 or 1971 when that couldn't be further from the truth. In many instances, the buyers of Hemi cars did not have the knowledge to keep the twin four barrel carbs tuned well enough to make them "killers" on the street. And I'm not sure what you are smoking, but an LS6 Chevelle would have NO PROBLEM keeping up with and/or out-running a Hemi Cuda. As a matter of fact, in October of 1969 Car Craft actually tested a 1970 LS6 Chevelle and a 1970 Hemi Cuda against each other at the drag strip. The cars were pretty much identically-equipped...although with that said, the magazine claimed that the Chevelle had 3.55 rear gears and the 1970 LS6 Chevelle was only available with 3.31 or 4.10 gears, so the Chevelle likely had the 3.31 rear end and was therefore actually at a slight disadvantage to the Hemi Cuda, which reportedly had a 3.54 rear end. Both cars had 4-speed manual transmissions. What did the cars run? The Chevelle reportedly ran a 13.12 @ 107.01 MPH. The Hemi Cuda reportedly ran 13.10 @ 107.12 MPH. In case you can't decipher those numbers, that Car Craft article is claiming that the cars run basically IDENTICAL TIMES in the 1/4. And as a side note, in November of 1965, Car and Driver ran a 1966 L72 Corvette down the track and ran a 12.80 @ 112 MPH. The car had a 4-speed and 3.36 rear end.
