The body of Bengali officer was taken to Dhaka in 2007. A chartered plane was received by BD prime minister at the airport. He was awarded the highest gallentry medal of BD. Only 7 military men had received this medal till then. After this incident in 1971, his wife and two daughters were sent to then East Pakistan. I read all this in 2007 when his body was flown back. It was Gen Musharaf era.

Mati sacrificed his life for a cause and that was the foundation of Bangladesh that’s why Bangladesh have named an airbase after him and awarded him highest military award and rightly so while minhas sacrificed his life for defending Pakistan and was awarded highest award for his bravery and rightly so. both put there life’s at stake which is very tough and only true dedicated soldiers can do this.
