1972 20 hp Johnson

1972 20 hp Johnson. Installed a carb kit points cleaned and a safety kill switch.

I got a 71, just like it 20 yrs ago from old fellow. I sometimes run it on my 9 foot dinghy, it is scary. I call it the Big Johnson on a little hard dinghy......

i use three motors between me and my uncle, a johnson 20, evinrude 9 1/2, and a johnson 9 1/2. the johnson 20 shifts, and idles smoother than an motor ive ever used

The water exits the exhaust port just above the water line on this model and does not have a Tell Tale at the pan. The impeller was new and and the block stays cool to the touch. The tell tale came in the mid 70s

wow that IS a good lookin motor runs good too i have a '72 9.5 tht needs about $250 in parts its kinda discouraging for me

@jsesTM Ya they are a bit of a pain motor but they can be repaired.

Hello, did you purchase a carb kit for this engine? I traded for the exact same engine, have to re-seal the lower unit and Im thinking carb kit too... Can you let me know where you bought your parts from and can you give me any tips for this motor? Greatly appreciated
