I owned a '72 R75/5 for 30 years and did several modifications to it to make it a "touring" bike: Windjammer 3 Fairing, 851CC kit, ported and polished the heads, high lift valve kit and non-leaded gas valve seats, swapped out the 4 speed with a 5 speed with a kick start, upgraded to an electronic ignition and 280W charging system, and welded a brace on the short wheelbase driveshaft. Loved that bike and would still have it if I had the room for it in my garage! Thanks for keeping the old BMWs on the road!! 😍

Congratulations - well done! I had the same in silver (Polaris metallic) - yours and the following with the extended swingarm. Very good and reliable bike. I love it very much.

What material are the standard mudguards (fenders?) made from?

Nice bike. Only the stripes on the side cover are originally in blue on the R75/5 with toaster tank Monza blue

yes this is a reproduction piece not original to the bike
