Looks like an awesome car! Might be the first one we've seen!

Hey, guys! It was one of a parade of foreign cars sold by name brand dealerships here with their names attached. There was a market for small cars so major brands imported them and sold them at their dealerships. Thanks! :) Jack

I sure remember the Colts made by Mitsubishi but it was so long ago that I don't remember this one.

Hey, George! Yes, Chrysler Corporation relied on other manufacturers to fill their product line. The market was in upheaval and attitudes were shifting about small cars. Thanks! :) Jack

@@coolrides Hi Jack, cheers! I was drivin' VW bugs and busses at the time when many were driving muscle cars.

Hey, George! Cheers! And I'm sure you were ahead financially because of that! Thanks! :) Jack

I saw one of those at the drag races in the early 80s racing an RX 3 Mazda . The Colt had 426 Hemi, and the rotary engine was modified because in turned a very high R.P.M..The Colt won 🏆 but the Mazda was quicker off the line.

Hey, Gary! It was the fate of many of these small cars to wind up as drag racers! That must have been one great race to see! Thanks! :) Jack

Too little to compete with the Vega and Pinto, but likely a better car than either.

I'm sure it was! When you compare them, if the Colt had been a little bigger, it might have had lots more sales! I've seen videos of devastating floods in Canada...I hope you're safe! Thanks! :) Jack

The floods were pretty close to me, but fortunately i wasn't affected.

I'm glad to hear that...sorry for those who suffered! Thanks! :) Jack

I’ve seen other material where I learned about these Mitsubishis being sold as the Dodge brand, in the clamour for smaller cars during the fuel crisis. In Britain I believe we got the next generation of this car sold from about 1975, initially just branded as ‘Colt’, and think the tag line in the TV ads was “A new breed of car.” Ironically after some stunning and iconic cars, particularly the Mitsubishi Evo, Mitsubishi appears to have fallen on hard times and has pulled out of the UK market, apart from retaining some service and spares representation for existing models.

Hey, Mick! Mitsubishi still maintains a presence here, with the ubiquitous SUV....an interesting variation: www.mitsubishicars.com/ralliart The car marketplace is in shambles over here with Stellantis leading the way in chaos! No one's position seems secure, even GM and Ford, so I suppose that Mitsu still has a chance, as well as Subaru and Mazda. Thanks! :) Jack

Oh it's a Mitsubishi Colt from Japan. Sold here in the States as a Dodge Colt. The emblem on the rear plate is Japanese I presume.

Hey, David! Right you are! Mopar was looking for a small car to meet the competition. Plymouth had the Arrow, also a Mitsubishi car. Thanks! :) Jack

Cool little car. Could it be a rebadged Opel?
@coolridesАй бұрын
Hey, David! I think its heritage is Mitsubishi...Mopar had an arrangement with them at the time. Opel's heritage is GM. Thanks! :) Jack
