That sounds like a nice rig. The 20hp is a great motor! Thanks for watching!

There is not much motor shake. At that speed you could tow the kids water skiing!!! Another great job keep it up. Thanks again for another great ride along.

This is a nice smooth runner with great power. Yes, it would tow a child or small adult water skiing. Thanks for watching!

Sweet! Reminds me of my 1974 Evinrude "Sportster" that I bought new. (Wish I still had it.) Thanks for the video.

Other than the color, cowling shape, paint, and the low-tension magneto on the 73-76 25hp, it is the same motor. It's a great runner. It just barely edges out my 67 Fastwin for top speed. That thing is amazing for an 18. This is a really nice motor and I will definitely be running it quite a lot. Thanks for watching!

Sweet motor! I just used your instruction videos and Richards timing tool to get my own 1969 sportster's ignition all sorted, hoping to hit 26 mph on the cedar strip boat tomorrow! Thanks again for the great videos!
@oldjohnnyrude84042 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm working on a '69 Sportster now. The powerhead was trashed and it was a long shaft electric start. It will be a short shaft pull start with a '76 Johnson powerhead when I'm done with it. LOL. Richard's timing tool is great. I have them in three sizes. I'm glad my videos were helpful. Good luck with your motor on your cedar strip. Thanks for watching!

I also have a '71 Sportster. Mine needs a crankshaft repair due to rodent pee corrosion. I have the new crank, I just need to split the case and replace it. It is definitely a screamer. I can't wait to run that one again. They are awesome motors. Thanks for watching!

Wow Ben. That is one smooth running 25 horse Johnny Rude! That one went together and runs well! Just a couple more weeks until Independence Day! Hope yours will be a great one! Mine will! I appreciate every video you share with us! Enjoy your weekend coming up! Mark in Iowa.

Thanks Mark! This is a very nice smooth strong runner. Yes, Independence Day is going to be here soon! I'm sure mine will be good as well. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my content as well. Have a great weekend and a great Independence Day! Thanks for watching!

And such a clean start! Imagine if you had the capability of electric/hydraulic trim on demand. Bet you could lift the front up dangerously high at 35 lol

This motor starts, runs, and idles beautifully for a 70s 22 c.i. 25hp. It really is a a very nice, tight, low hour motor. In a way it's too bad the access cover screw broke off in the original midsection leading to its getting broken and replaced. It's still a sweetheart though. It's got the mark of JohnErude on it now. LOL. Power trim would be cool, but probably not worth the added weight even if it was available. I just need to get some trim tabs designed, built, and installed on this boat. I'm thinking I can eek another 1-2 mph out of it. Thanks for watching!

@@oldjohnnyrude8404 ooo trim tabs! That’s thinking with your dipstick! A much simpler and cleaner option for sure

Hope you are enjoying your vacation at your cabin, what great fun! Those engines really sound wonderful at full throttle. What brand of lanyard cutoff switch did you install there. My daughter is sure I will fall out of the boat and be cut to shreds one day. It would just be a matter of swapping out the stop switch, right? I have a similar engine, a 1972 Fastwin 18.
@oldjohnnyrude84042 жыл бұрын
I am enjoying my vacation. The wind has been relentless though. Only one good lake day so far. These 22 c I. 25s really sing a song at WOT, that's for sure. I am using a Sea Choice lanyard kill switch. Yes, it is basically just swapping out the original switch with the new lanyard switch. You can cut the wired off the original switch and put female spade connectors on the wires and hook them to this switch. Or you can made a couple extensions that connect to the original connectors that have the spade terminals on them. I made my extension wires extra long so I can run them out from under the lower pan and connect them to the lanyard switch I have wired into my Aerocraft with remote controls. This particular kill switch has terminals for magneto and for electronic ignition. I have been quite happy with them. I have a few of them on boats and motors now. They are a good idea, but I don't have them on any of my motors that didn't originally have kill switches on them. The vast majority of my outboards do not have them. Yes, the '72 Fastwin is a very similar motor. I have a pair of '73 Fastwins and I have refitted both of them with the earlier Universal Magneto ignition. I have one running flawlessly and the other seems to have a fuel pump issue. I need to get that one sorted out too. They're great motors. Thanks for watching!

@oldjohnnyrude84042 жыл бұрын
Yessir! It is a very nice running 25. I'm quite happy with this one. I'm still probably most impressed woth my 67 Fastwin though. It's an "18" but it will run consistently 25mph plus on this boat. The 25 gives up some low and midrange run quality up for a little top speed. This one is a sweetheart though. Thanks for watching!

How did you make pull handle n throttle handle ?? 3d printer ???
@oldjohnnyrude84042 жыл бұрын
Yes, I 3D printed the pull handle, tiller grip, and prop nut on this motor. I have a number of parts I am making 3D printed replacements for on classic OMC outboards. Thanks for watching!

Any way to make props for old trolling motors ?
@oldjohnnyrude84042 жыл бұрын
@@steveramm3710 I do not have a way to do that myself. There are printers that can print higher strength materials. I may eventually get into something like carbon fiber PETG or ASA or something. There are metal 3D printers also. I am not able to print trolling motor props though.
