Wow!! You have Collision repair running through your veins. A Jack of all trades and with the smarts to bring these Blazers back from the dead. If I was a little younger I would hit you up to sweep your shop floor just to learn all your repair knowledge. Your putting it out there sure helps the owners of these rigs that need parts they couldn't find and you totally restored their confidence to be able to finish their truck. Giving your know how on KZbin is phenomenal. Especially in this crazy after Covid world. Bravo Brother. Just Plain Bravo!!!

This is a VERY helpful video. I just bought a 72 K5 with some rot in the rocker boxes. The rocker panels appear to have been saved by rhino lining the floors many years ago. I will be referring to your channel as I proceed. Thanks for the explanation of the rocker boxes and the difs between blazers and C-10's. If you want to see the dog I just bought, I launched the video on it today (12-4-22)! Thanks for your great video! -Dr. Lee SUBBED!!!

Hey, I get most of my parts from classic industries or Raybuck auto parts. Both have a pretty good inventory of parts.

I get them in town from my local supplier, The Chrome Guy...I'm not sure if he ships outside of Arizona but there's a couple other vendors who will, Raybuck auto parts, and brother's truck are 2 other suppliers that I use. Make sure and call to verify if they have the parts. Sometimes if you order online, it'll say the parts are in stock which actually they're on a back order, so it's always best to speak to a live person. Hopefully this helps you. Hit me up with any other questions and thanks for watching the videos

Have a few questions. I have a 70 shortbed truck. Is it the same as a blazer. Can I convert and make the blazer top fit etc. or would it be better to get a long bed?

Thanks for the info. I’m planning on converting my c20 cab into a Blazer. I’ve found one supplier who sells just the vertical piece that connects the floor to the bed. My floor is in good shape and I’d like to just modify it with the piece described. Have you ever done this? I’m pretty sure the back of the floor will have to be shortened. Any advise?
@moderntooclassicautodesign8676

Yes, I'm very familiar with the truck to blazer conversions. Once you cut the rear cab panel off, the bed will get moved forward to the front cab floor. I can't remember off hand how much of the cab floor you'll need to cut or if it's just the 90 degree flange that you'll cut off. There are a couple different things between the truck cab floor and bed. You can try and bolt the rear bed floor to the cab or just weld it since there won't be the standard bolt holes. I did a blazer several years ago before they were super popular and had to use a truck floor because they weren't making blazer floors at that time because there was no demand for them. Glad this video helped you out. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions

One thing that I’m trying to figure out is the rear cab mounts. From what I’ve seen it appears that the rear cab mount move forward. Is that correct?
@moderntooclassicautodesign8676
@moderntooclassicautodesign8676 Жыл бұрын
The rear cab mount is going to stay the same, you'll have to find 4 rear bed mounts and bushings, so instead of the bed resting on the frame like a truck, it actually has body bushing and brackets similar to the cab mounts for a blazer. 2 for each side on the bed. If you want to message me on Instagram, I can attach pictures for you to reference...@pauliaquinta

@@moderntooclassicautodesign8676 I’m not too good on Instagram but I’ll try. My idea is to shorten long bed frame by 23” and build the body off of it. Building brackets should be a problem. But, from what you’re saying is I need to buy a complete body bushing kit. And, I need to partially assemble the whole body including the top to make sure that everything is square and level. No pressure…

Hey Paul. I just bought all new body panels for my C10 to Blazer project. I’d love to pick your brain about some details and to see if you have some brackets and stuff laying around that you’re willing to sell. Any way we can communicate privately?

The best online parts for blazers is raybuck auto parts or classic industries. Either one is pretty good but raybuck seems to have more parts I'm stock.

Hey! Thanks for watching. I get most of my parts from a local vendor here in Phoenix, The Chrome guy...but you can get a lot of blazer parts through Classic industries, brothers truck or raybuck. All great but if you do order anything online, make sure and call to speak with a representative, because online it'll say they have the part in stock but in reality, its backordered so its always good to ask someone if the part is in stock.

@@moderntooclassicautodesign8676 I've been seeing that a lot lately too. Good advice. I'm doing a 70 K5 and got most sheet metal through Summit and AMD. No issues. Great fit. Seem to be less expensive than others. And yes, the one I'm doing also got butchered. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't want to replace the floors or firewall/cowl due to time constraints but I'm setting up the surrounding metal to do them later. 😞

Hey, I have a vendor here in Phoenix Az that gets most of the parts, it's called The Chrome Guy. If they're out of stock I'll order from Raybuck auto parts or Classic industries. They tend to have most parts in stock. Make sure and call any supplier to verify if a part is in stock because a lot of times when ordering online, it'll say the part is in stock when its backordered. There are a couple different suppliers who do. Here in Phoenix Az I go through The Chrome Guy, great service, not sure if he ships, also you can check out rayback auto parts, or ecklers auto parts. The biggest thing before you order is, call and ask if they have the part in stock because a lot of times when you order online and it says it's in stock, it generally isn't but if you call and talk with someone, they're a little better about letting you know

Do the boxes have a manufacturer name on them for the replacement floors? I have seen other floors to do not look to be as good in quality as the ones you have this video. Great video!

They're closed on Mondays so hit them up tomorrow, super good guys, very reliable and will shoot you straight about quality and availability on parts

@moderntooclassicautodesign8676
@moderntooclassicautodesign8676 8 ай бұрын
Yes, a short bed or long bed can be converted to a blazer. If you have fabricating skills, the short bed can be used as the blazer bedside by cutting the front part of the bed and making it part of the door jamb and the rear floor is the same, you just have to add the holes for the rear seat frame. Easier way is to buy the blazer bedsides and they'll bolt right up. You'll need the rocker boxes and the other 2 inner structure parts to make your cab a blazer. Cut the rear of the cab off, mover the bed forward so the door closes on the bedside...you're just eliminating the cab corner...I'm probably rambling but if you're serious, hit me up and I'll help you along the way in more detail

I am very serious. I am an early bronco guy for years and own a shop as well. My fabrication is pretty good as well. I wasn’t sure of shortbed dimensions and I already own a 71 top, so wanted to be sure before I secured this shortbed truck, that it would do the trick. Very good videos by the way.
