I Love this color combo on these 71-73 Mach 1,s.

Fellas, that is NOT a $40k+ car! Misaligned rear valence, doors, hood, can tell there is a lot of putty in the quarters, paint chips, rust spots on the rockers and rust forming under paint, lots of putty in the quarters. More poor workmanship on the rubber seals (glue showing). Steering wheel and column trim has to go, chrome strips on the door openings, (hiding something) flaking paint on the dash panel. And to top it off, incorrect engine. Would love to see what the floors and trunk pan workmanship look like. You keep saying “older restoration”, but I see a “poor restoration”. Good luck with the sale!

@@badass6.0powerstroke10 just making sure somebody with more money than smarts knows what they’re getting into. I’ve owned ‘69 and ‘70 Mach 1’s, and am currently looking for a ‘71-‘72 Mach 1 driver. This car is an ok driver…..but not a $40k driver. If they can get that for this car, great for them, but I’m guessing their price will be reduced in the coming months.

@@angielover100 i definitely agree with you on the asking price, $40k is kinda high for this one.

Very nice Mach 1. The only thing I would change out would be that steering wheel.

That would be the FIRST thing to go for me! That thing is hideous. I believe the sellers know it which is why they aren’t doing anything to it, just flipping it.

I agree, a Top Loader is always a big upgrade for me when it comes to Old Ford Muscle Cars.

Ford Australia had VERY simmilar colours on the Aussie performance line up in the same years. This blue in the 1971 Ford XY GTHO was called True Blue.

Really nice car! I'm always a little bit disappointed to see that automatic tranny though, no big deal though.

Well, you clearly need to make a quick 10 g plus lol 😆 😂 Can't blame you though...

I’m guessing they spent $20k for it. If they spent $30k, the seller got a great deal.…..😆

Nice car but I don’t think 72 had painted bumpers. I believe 71 had them and 73. 72 had crome

Curious on what this was originally born with under the hood ? No Big Blocks in 72, and would you happen to know what the engine is ? Thunder Jet, Cobra Jet, or SCJ (which i doubt) and what model year the engine is ? 429 or 460 ?
@angielover1009 ай бұрын
Likely a Cleveland engine, which would be an “H or M” code in the VIN (which they also conveniently left out of the video). Also need to see the original door label, a build sheet, or a Marti report to know if it really is a true Mach 1 (63R)…..or just a fastback (63D). An “05” in the VIN would make it a true Mach 1. The fact that the door tag is missing/painted over is another indication of a mediocre “restoration”. Hopefully the potential buyer knows what he’s doing when considering this car. 👍🏻
@badass6.0powerstroke109 ай бұрын
@@angielover100 Yes, i was thinking it was probably a Cleveland, 2V or 4V, i think the 302 was probably the base engine for these 71-73 models, would definitely like to see the VIN to know all the info like you said.
@angielover1009 ай бұрын
@@badass6.0powerstroke10 They posted the VIN on their website. It’s an “05” body code, which makes it a true Mach 1, BUT, with an “H” engine code, which makes it the 2 barrel Cleveland. Ford changed the 4 barrel code from “M” to “Q” in 1972. The 4 barrel Cleveland is the more desirable engine. Unfortunately for this car, somebody dropped a big old Lincoln or truck engine in there, so it’s a moot point. The “salesmen” in the video used the word “upgraded” when describing the engine. Having the incorrect engine actually hurts the value, but then again, they are describing the car as a “driver”, so no big deal.

@@angielover100 There was a really hot Cleveland in 72 also, the 351 HO, not sure on it's VIN code, but was basically a Low Compression Boss 351 engine, slightly milder cam timing, with the Open Chamber Heads i know it wasn't a Q code, wasn't that for the 351 Cobra Jet i believe they called it ? I know the HO was tho Hot Cleveland for 72, thought that was also a M code, but I'm not 100 % sure, i know it was very rare, i know it was only a couple hundred made with that combo, which can be had in a Mach 1, coupe, not sure if any convertibles were made with the 351 HO. It would've been much nicer if they dropped in a period correct 429 SCJ instead of like you said a Truck or Lincoln 429/460. And to me a Top Loader makes any Old Ford Classic much more desirable.
@badass6.0powerstroke109 ай бұрын
@@angielover100 It was an R code, 275 HP Detuned 351 Boss engine, open chamber heads, flat top pistons, still had a solid lifter cam, but slightly milder than then the Boss 351. Very rare 398 made.

It wasn’t. Q code 4 bbl 351 cleveland was the most you could get for ‘72-‘73. This car is an “H” code 2 bbl car.
