Yes that owners manual was printed in 1971. Five 440+6 1972 Roadrunners came off the assembly line in late 1971 . Due to emission standards the 440+6 was discontinued in November 1971 (for the 1972 models).

IT HAD RR BADGING ON THE QUARTERS, UPPER FRONT VALANCE & TRUNK LID AND ALSO HAD GTX BADGES ON THE FENDERS AS WELL AS THE TRUNK LID..ALL ENGINES WERE PAINTED BLUE..THIS MAN IS CLAIMING ITS THE ONLY ONE EVER BUILT...I AGREE THAT ITS THE ONLY ONE WITH A SUNROOF BUT I HAVE SEEN SOME PROOF OF A BLUE SIX BARREL 72 RR THAT EXISTS YET UNRESTORED..THE ONE RESTORATION PART ON THIS CAR I DO NOT AGREE WITH IS THE HOOD BEING BLACKED OUT BEHIND THE AIR GRABBER BUBBLE..IN 72 THE V21 CODE WAS TWO STRIPES DOWN EACH SIDE OF THE AIR GRABBER SET UP..IN 71 THE V21 WAS THE BLACKOUT TREATMENT BEHIND THE AG BUBBLE..THEY CLAIM ITS AN EARLY BUILD CAR FOR THE BLACKOUT IN PLACE..ANY AND ALL 6BBL CARS IN 72 WERE EARLY BUILDS AS IT WAS DISCONTINUED MID YEAR..

Interesting they carried over the 6-pack albeit in very limited numbers. I was just watching a dealer promo film on the '72 Roadrunner/GTX/Satellite, and when it got to engine options, it mentioned '440 6 pack'. However, the smog era didn't truly hit until 1974 along with the catalytic converter mandate, and I guess that the horsepower drop from '71 to '72 was more semantics than actual major horsepower losses. Case in point, the '72 6-pack was rated at 330 hp which would have been 'net' horsepower vs. 'gross', so no real loss from '71's 385 hp rating. The only problem with the 1971 model on compared to the pre-'71 models is the '71 was hit with the ugly stick. Same with the Charger.

All 440 powered Roadrunners built from 1972-74 were badged as a Roadrunner GTX, but only the 440 powered ones. The base engine from 72-74 was the 400 and the 440 4bbl and 340 4bbl we're 1972-73 options. In 74 the options were a 440 4bbl and I believe a 360 4bbl. Could be wrong on the 360 though

@briancabral99 жыл бұрын
+sunnyvaletrailer There were no 440's after 72 and only 5 were put in 72's. I researched this after I saw this. The GTX became an option package on the Road Runner and wasn't its own model anymore and the 440 had a hard time passing emission standards in late 1971 so after only 5 made it into production in the 72 line of Mopars they went with the 400 as the top displacement engine and had the smaller ones mostly standard.
@sunnyvaletrailer9 жыл бұрын
+Brian Cabral The 440 remained in production through 1978, and was available in the Road Runner through 1974. There was no GTX option package, but as stated before, all 440 Road Runners from 1972-74 were badged as GTX's.

Because according to the comments a lot of people were glad to see such a rare car. Sure it would've been nice if it were longer, but maybe the guy he was talking to wasn't able to do a longer video. Maybe he had more people waiting to talk to him about it. A short video of something rare is better than no video at all. Maybe it's just me, but I refuse to give a video a thumbs down. I don't think it should even be an option. If I don't like a video, it's not their fault I watched it.

Plymouth dropped the GTX as a separate model after 1971. In 1972 you could get the Roadrunner only with a 340, 400 or 440 engine. If a 440 - it was known as the Roadrunner GTX, because they had stopped producing the GTX model and instead made it a trim level.
