Thank you Misha @mgcharoudin for the excellent drive! As a passenger it was fantastic. It seems like it doesn't go that fast - all I can say is that it did - and in an 52 year old car there isn't anything to filter the elements so the senses were fully loaded. Highly impressed by your driving skills - especially how you drove the car a few hundred meters and then it felt like you had done nothing else but driving this car. Thank you for bringing the car out on the Nordschleife and back to its roots!

Congratulations on such a beauty! I always wonder how it would be to drive and own one of these gems and consider buying one. This video helped me understand a couple of things: - This car is not as agile as modern cars (we all know this, this is no news, but seeing it is different), things have to be done let's say carefully and methodically. Maybe feeling it in person is also different, I still will be missing that part. - This car is probably 4 times better than the average Porsche from the 70s (that I would maybe be able to afford) and does not have the top amazing upgrades and top maintenance that this one has. The average one has to be a lot worse to drive. Makes me wonder: Do you have any other modern car that checks other boxes too and makes you smile in a different way? Do you agree at all with my opinion? Cheers!

Old Porsches don't have much in the way of aero aids, not to mention everything else. That gas tank on the front gets lighter as the lap goes on making the weight distribution even more extreme. If you let off the throttle you cut traction, you need to be really in touch with the car to not flip it into a barrier - I've got no personal experience in this, but any good simulator will give you a nice wake up call to how these cars can go suddenly from "great" to "not great" :)
@sebastiankaiser51654 ай бұрын
@@Galf506 i‘ve got experience in this and let me tell you, all the online horror stories about snap oversteer etc blabla are wholly unfounded. You need to have a basic understanding of the physics of weight transfer and what it does to the car (in theory) then a 911 will be the most rewarding, intuitive car you can possibly drive, just because it communicates everything it does to you non-stop. In fact I started on track with an aircooled 911 and then made the switch to BMW and I was really struggling to gain trust in the light rear.

Porsche actually moved the oil tank to in front of the rear axle once more when the Porsche 964 came out in 1989, but the filling cap remained under the hood so that people don't mistakenly fill in the oil tank with gasoline (which is one of the reason why the 1972 oil flap disappeared) Only other 911 that has the external oil flap would be the 1967 ultra-rare 911 R, but that is a homologation special with double digit build numbers

I actually grew up with cars that have a similar pedal arrangement. You have to keep the ball of your foot on the brake and swing the heel over to the right and press it down instead of just rolling the foot. Modern cars have gone away from this for whatever reason and so heel/toe has become more of a foot roll affair and I just like this better. Great car. Pretty amazing! That car is as old as I am :D And yes, agreed about Hugh Jackman, hell I'd be happy if just one of my limbs looked as good as him!

Ah, the car to leave a lasting impression on my mind from playing NFS Porsche 2000. In a nutshell, the lines are spectacular. First of all, see how the front end has this nimble, focused look. The trunk lid sloping down can seem out of place - the careful arrangement perhaps distorted by the lens? - as if it was lacking in bolster and statement, but you can see it allows the driver ample visibility at nearest extremes, and you may also imagine the wind channeling onto the car as it intends to spear through the air. From the straight, driving lines of the front, the form morphs into curves and bulk suggesting of power, hidden momentum to brace your back on and propel the whole onwards, letting the past challenges and obstacles slip by in your wake in scattered torrents of memory. Upon pondering the shape of this vehicle, I can't help but see dichotomy in the language it speaks to my eyes. It is much like the relationship of Sun and Moon, Man and Woman; one assertive and vigilant, the other veiled and magical. What would one be without the other in a world where the wind speaks no-ones name? This is one car where the pen has perfectly joined these opposing motives, and upon seeing it, it can never be unseen.
