In a second episode devoted to Guyana, Black Journal focuses on that country's educational system as an instrument in nation-building. Visits to various Guyanese classrooms and interviews with Prime Minister Forbes Burnam, Minister of Education Shirley Field Ridley, educators and students, reveal that concepts of black pride, confidence, self-help and national cooperation are the ABC's of Guyana's educational philosophy. Where colonial Guyana sought merely to produce a work force for its masters, the newly-independent Guyana seeks to produce a people with the adequate skills and philosophies needed for nation-building. Therefore its educational curricula include economics, science, technology, agriculture, black history, and black culture.

Thank to everyone for doing such a good job. In teaching our children our culture. Of which my generation knows nothing about. But I think putting Almighty God first, will make things easier and better. Am saying this because our ancestors did not obey God's law and precepts. That's why until today, every other people are treating us the way they do. Because we are a stiff necked people according to the bible. Again put Almighty God first. ❤️❤️❤️🙂👍.

Excuse me but before independence Guyanese lived As brother and sisters and did not see each other colour but a few months before independence Guyanese was taught differently of themselves. Evening stroll or window shopping at bookers or forgaty was beautiful no crime in those good old days. The streets were quiet at night with no robbery etc.
