Mine was the follow-up 1974 blue/white RD250a with the disc up front. Absolutely loved that bike and went touring everywhere on it back then as a 17 year old. Please let any new customer know that the 2-stroke oil supply is throttle operated meaning; guess what could happen when riding downhill on a closed throttle with the engine doing 4-5000rpm or even more? A closed throttle supplies only the amount needed for tick-over as well as changing down gears or depending on engine braking. It’s not a 4-stroke! Sorry to be so blunt but anyone riding a two-stroke could save a lot of repairs and money by paying attention to a more 2-stroke orientated riding technique. Instead of riding downhill in 3rd with a closed throttle doing some 4500rpm, I used to change up to 5th - apply braking pressure and open up the gas to charge the cylinders with lubrication. Coasting with an applied clutch while slowing down also leaves more €€‘s in yer pockets 😉

They were the bikes to have when I was a kid, 60 now and still, remember how many of us had accidents with these when the laws allowed you to buy these while still in school 😂
