Seat heating was standard in 1974:s driver seat! In the Volvo brochure it says: "With the ignition on, heating units in the driver´s seat and backrest switch on automatically when temperature drops below 57°F and turns off when it reaches 79°F" SAAB got seat heater in 1972 that worked the same way, im not sure but i belive i heard that SAAB was the inventors of seat-heating and Volvo followed the competition.

Thank you very much! I remember my upholstery mentor told me it’s better to be a master of one thing than a Jack of All Trades, but I found more fun in life through variety. 🤗

That panel in the seat looks like a seat heater panel from a 240, maybe someone fitted it in some time it should have a part number you can reference, im not entirely sure that the later 1972 on 164E didn't have seat heating as an option or not

This i´m having a hard time getting. I had several 164:s and as leather goes, the old leather on these seats were really, really good. Leave them to a professional to fix a few minor problems, re-colour them and they would have been immaculate. To change original leather from the seventies (good cows, exellent tanned, superb quality) toa newly produced leather interior (sick cows, poor quality on chemicals used, made by chinese kids with poor skills) is something i would never understand. And real leather ages beutifully, this slim cutted, spraypainted leather probably will look old after 5 yrs. Very good job thou, and and thank you for rescuing a true classic car.

I think there was an ad every 4 minutes. Tedious. Nice job David. Some silicone spray on the net cases can help the covers slip over the innards.
