Put a high flow exhaust on it ,high flow cats with a equalizer H type exhaust .It will amaze you how much power and response you will gane .!The 1970 'Eldorado had a true duel exhaust as standard equipment.

Another big constraint on these engines was the intake manifold an Edelbrock will really wake it up. IIRC the one for big block Fords is adaptable for the 500

Cushy and comfortable ride, acceleration is effortless, and is deliberately not overly strong, because being thrown backwards and pushed harshly into your seat is not what was wanted at the time for this particular class and type of vehicle.

Bump up ignition timing till the starter won’t turn it over....then turn it down 3* from that point....lock down the distributor!
