Very unlike the Russian fans and players. Canada won 6-1 in 2015 World Championship and Ilya Kovalchuk pressured his players to leave the ice before the Canadian national anthem. That's a sleaze ball move and I despise that loser to this day.

Look at Orr; he is playing in great pain.Always sad watching these 76 CC games. Having watched Bobby Orr’s career in Boston, he was a ghost of what he use to be (still good though!).What happens to him is the reason why the NHL cleaned up the modern game. They knew Gretzky was coming and didn’t want to lose their greatest player to goons. For an old man, Bobby Hull still played well!

Too many Teams in the nhl watered down. Lots of clutching and grabbing for players who really wouldnt have made it in a 6 or even 12 team format. Then in the 1970S and 80s selected allstars who were not a real team .Exception for the team Canada of 76 and at the end 72. The North American game is geared to hitting and tougher play and thats what most fans pay for. Ive seen two European teams play and yes nice passing etc. but like icecapades after a while on the big ice surface .

@@ronmailloux8655 Speaking as an Edmontonian, I gotta say the NHL got it right. If you played for the Oilers in 1978-79, then you couldn't have been an Oilers rookie in 1979-80. Remember, it was a merger between the two leagues, ostensibly as equals. That said, if that is the NHL's view, then I think WHA stats should count toward career totals. Same with the ABA and NBA.
@ronmailloux8655

@thomasleary2814
@thomasleary2814 2 ай бұрын
@ronmailloux8655 You make a good point , but the NHL wasn't about to acknowledge the WHA in any way shape or form. The 1970's bidding wars were still fresh and the NHL knew they had the 4 merger teams (Hartford, Edmonton, Quebec and Winnipeg) over a barrel. They really got shafted and were basically treated as expansion teams (only allowed to protect 4 players, placed at the bottom of the '79 entry draft, etc.) Harry Sinden of the Bruins only voted for the merger after the Whalers agreed to be known as a "Hartford" team rather than the "New England" Whalers.

They are actually only slightly faster. From Netscape Can NHL All-Star Shea Weber beat the fastest slap-shot speed record of 118.3 MPH achieved by famed hockey legend Bobby Hull in the 1960s? So far Weber's fastest slap shot is an impressive 108.5 MPH, but much slower than Hull's reported speed.Jun 5, 2019
