This is absolutely amazing. I thought i was gonna watch a random restoration video, not an amazing story of someone's life impacted by this amazing car. What an amazing, wonderful story.

Beautiful car... and an even more beautiful story. I know how hard the Minnesota winters can be... I lived in the twin cities for 14 years. I'm surprised the rust wasn't way worse.

Wow, what a great story and beautiful car! This really caught my eye because my first S30 was a 76 that my step father purchased for me back in the late 80s when I was in college. It was a funky pale yellow green called "leaf green." I never liked it so I had it painted British Racing Green, just like yours! I now have a 72 s30 that I love very much and plan to pass it on to my son some day.

Beautiful job! My favorite classic Z car color was this British Green but with mustard colored interior. Personally I would have gone with 240Z chrome bumpers and used 16" bronze wheels with chrome lips.

When working for Eastern Airlines in Tallahassee I had a new 1976 Oldsmobile Starfire and a Friend of mine had a new 1976 Datsun 280 Z. Mine was an automatic V6, his a stick shift. We raced through Tallahassee one night side by side, neck in neck, he got off the light a foot quicker than I and it stayed that way for 5 miles.

My old girlfriend bought one. It was so quick that she was afraid to drive it.1978 280z automatic. So, she said, here. You drive it. First cruise down the boulevard, the gas pedal stuck to the floor. I reached down and pulled it up because I didn't want to put it in neutral, over Rev it and float the lifters. In a few seconds, it went from 0-80 mph on a crowded A1A Friday night. The next day, I sprayed all the mechanisms with WD40. It was fine after that. Great memory, Nancy.

It's mostly original. There are some upgrades, obviously the speakers and stereo, but also there are fuel injection upgrades on the car too. That said I have never seen a 280z this nice and still mostly original. Some of those parts, like the bumper surrounds are probably difficult to find and expensive. Most people delete them and install earlier 240z bumpers since they look so much better than the park bench bumpers on the 76.

A 280Z in British Racing Green was my fantasy car as a teenager. My Datsun 710 was a far cry from this beauty. It's a shame they make you bolt that license plate on the front bumper. DOT should make exceptions for classic cars like this one. Congrats on the rebuild!
@davidmorgan998 Жыл бұрын
First rate restoration and with a wonderful complimentary story only a Z lover could appreciate. I too courted my future wife with a blue '76 Z car. We had her for over 13 years up until our first born. I hadn't driven her much afterwards but never planned to be rid of her either. One day she was gone. The Philadelphia Parking Authority had towed her away as my registration had expired. While in the process of retrieving her they inadvertently sold my car at auction. (The car was stolen a few years back and the thief removed the VIN plate. The PPA required that I replace this b4 they released her.) Needless to say I have a lifelong hate for them.

Lots of good things happened in 1976. It was the year NASA introduced the Space Shuttle to the general public. It was the year the Concorde made it's first commercial flights. It was the year Scorcese made Taxi Driver. And it was the year I was born. Good things all around.

Did you purchase this new? I bought the exact same car, exact same color in 1977. I bought it slightly used, less than 8,000 miles, from a friend who had been laid off from his job as a heavy machine operator. I paid $6400, which was about $500 less than the sticker. Not sure how you managed to buy one for less than $4k.
