That black van with the flames... My mom bought one for my cousin's birthday (new back in '76 of course) and I went on a mission trying to find one for myself. I also had the military six pack. Like any perfectly normal ten year old, I made them all look battle-worn. I specifically remember using a magnifying glass to burn holes in the Staff Car windshield to look like bullet holes. Thanks for the time travel. Between my brother, my cousin, and myself, we had every car on that table :)

That was a brilliant vid on Hot wheels, i have been looking forward to this for 2 weeks and was well worth it wtffor. i can not wait fotr the next, i live in the UK and collect myself. I have an unusual Hot wheels show hoss in blue with the White and blue tamps but it has made in malaysia on the base, i thought that the blue ones were only made in France or Mexico i have it on ebay at the moment check it out it might be a bit rare. i am 53 and love collecting.

Thanks for the kind words! I believe the Show Hoss you have is from the 1983 Speed Machines series, released in limited numbers due to unpopularity at the time. Nowadays those cars are rare and fetch a good dolla on ebay... Good luck with your sale!

Awesome view of the 1976 main line and new models. the super chromes six pack exclusives were also available individually only in international markets such as the Japan red box. I do have a blue window black plastic base superchromes super van, but I don't see them much. I also have a magenta jet threat II with basic wheels in a Japan red box, overall very cool look into 1976.

Another excellent video! it's almost crazy how expensive some of these old castings can get, especially in mint condition. The chrome series is really interesting in particular. You can say it's represented by Zamacs somewhat nowadays.Thanks for antoher great presentation.

1976 has so many great new castings. But this period is smited with the same blight that affects all the main brands in this year. It's a good lesson in the evolution of these castings. At this time Barbie was holding up the majority of Mattels industries. Factory closures in the UK 77-78 saw the end of Hotwheels cars in the shops for a while till the mid 1980s.

Congratulations! When I was your age I had about a couple hundred cars too, only there was no youtube. Keep collecting, and never give away or sell your cars, you'll regret it when your older as many other collectors I have met do. It's a great hobby, for life!

I am pretty sure the Mooneyes logo was also on older playsets from 1973 or '74, but I'd have to look into it to be sure. Thanks for watching and your question!

Great video! Some guides say the metal base Khaki Kooler came out in 1977, not 1976. This would make sense, as the blackwall Khaki Koolers have a metal base. What do you think?

where do you get your prices?
@wtffor7 жыл бұрын
Great question! I have recorded the sale prices of these Hot Wheels as they come up on eBay. I have a very large Excel database which I have maintained over the past seven years of the prices I observed, as well as a way to record the Hot Wheels in my collection, which ones I still need to buy, and how much I have invested in my collection to date. Since I upgraded my collection several times from "played with" to "good condition" and then attempted mint to near mint, I needed to remember how much the cars typically sold for so that I could confidently bid on them to the prices required when mint examples came up.

wtffor You should write a hotwheels collectors guidebook.
