Top 10? He is the greatest forward Iran has ever had. He has scored in Asian games 1974, Olympic games 1976, and World Cup 1978. He did all that while he was only 24; absent the 78 revolution, he could have played in 80 Olympics and 82 World Cup as well and score more goals at the highest level competitions. Ali Daei played in 2 World Cups and 5 games and failed to score a single goal!! Go figure!!

@@vinloy23 I thought due to his poor performance in the 1-st game in 2006 World Cup, he was dropped for the 2-nd game to the best of my recollection; but one's memory can always be wrong, so thanks for correcting me. In addition, those who point to over 100 goals scored by Daei at Int. level, should take into consideration the quality of the opponents he scored against. Scoring against 2-nd and 3-rd level Asian countries doesn't show a forward's true class. Gerd Muller scored 68 goals in 62 games for W. Germany, but he scored goals against top quality teams like England, Holland, Poland, Italy, Soviet and...., and his scoring ratio is above 1 goal per game. World Soccer magazine had a very accurate methodology in ranking top goal scorers in Europe: Those who scored in top leagues like Premier league or La Liga were receiving 2 points for each goal, those scoring in leagues like Holland's Eredivisie were receiving 1.5 points for each goal, and those scoring in lower quality leagues like Cyprus, Greece and so on were receiving only 1 point for each goals they scored. Even the great late Eusebio once complained about people bragging about Ronaldo's too many goals at Int. level by saying: " In my days I didn't play too many games against countries like Malta, or Luxembourg" something along those words.

@@pattheslut Jimmy Shoulder, having come from the lower divisions of British football obviously found himself out of his deph has a manager or coach of a national team; he should have stuck with coaching or managing English division 3 or 4 clubs or conference teams,still, he was way better than Bryan Greene and even Rudi Gutendorf , who led the socceroos to 0-2 defeat and subsequent elimination from the Oceania group on that awful day at the Sydney Cricket ground in 1981.
