I had a 78 camaro, great car, could slide around corners. I like that style too, easy and practical cars to work on too! :)

Thank you for saving her. Dad bought a white 1977 Z28 when it was brand new. 4 speed / 350. Said she was fast and fun, burned rubber in all four gears! He sold it to buy land about 1982. Today it is still in great shape and a guy 20 minutes away owns it. I got the excitement of seeing it 3 or 4 times on the road.

love that feeling of seeing any classic on the road. Makes it even better when you have an attachment to it.

Great cars, so simple, great control, just let off gas to correct a slide, great handling cars, it should turn out great! :)

Thanks for your feedback. I think if I do get another one f body, it will be a firebird. I still have one Camaro left at the house. I will be painting that one back to original color. 1980 Barletta. Maybe will be on the channel next year.

Do you know the wheel and tire size of those white ones that came on it?
@rustaholic9029 Жыл бұрын
I replaced them with the same size that were on them previously. I really liked the stance the car had. Fronts: 225/60/15 Back: 275/60/15

Thanks, Enjoyed, Tried very hard to love my new Red Camaro, Bought new in 1977 and another one in 1982 new from the same dealership, Both were Total Junk right from the beginning. Still think about buying a restored one like yours from tim to time.
@rustaholic9029 Жыл бұрын
oh my. Sorry your new ones were not a good experience. I am sure there are some good restorations out there that improved the factory builds. However, I have to admit I do not think mine would be in that category. lol

Does the fiberglass matt insulate the floor pans from getting rusted out again?
@rustaholic90293 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly in this car I cut out all of the rust. There was not much floor left. What was there I did sand down and por 15 before I started adding a fiberglass floor back in. I really went over the top with the fiberglass in this car. It was solid when done. Unless you looked under the car you would never have guessed it wasn't metal. I also covered the whole floor with sound deadening. From the top at least, no water would have made it back to any metal. fyi - I have a 80 Camaro Barletta waiting in the wings. Hoping I get to that one spring of 25. It is a much better candidate than the 77 was. I am looking forward to that one.

Not sure how this one talked me into it. Nope, I do. It was the trailer tires. lol That car was so fun.

I like how it came out. Where did you order the door panel from?
@rustaholic90299 ай бұрын
I actually replaced one door from a doner car. A few items came from ebay, all the brand new parts came from National Parts Depot, which is in Ocala not too far from me.

Trying to find a 77 Z28 but it’s hard in my area
@rustaholic902921 күн бұрын
I can understand that. Those are pretty easy to clone though depending on if you are looking for authenticity or if you are just digging the look. I hope you find what you are looking for.

@ I grew up with the 2007 Transformers movie when they had the 77 Z28 in the movie, since I was a kid it’s been my dream car, I also grew up with my dad owning a chevell and loved the old muscle car sound it had

That the way I would restore a car use original motor try and do it as reasonable as possible,just a lot of work... looks good ....get a used 350 ,327 or 400 small block that all I would do different
@rustaholic90299 ай бұрын
Yes, I kind of cut my teeth on this one. I have another Camaro in the wings with a 350 I am looking forward to. It is solid car and I plan to drive it for awhile.
@richardernst88574 ай бұрын
Great job but I would have gotten rid of those white wagon wheels they look like they came off a Jeep it needs shinny Cragers and I would have painted it red you had everything there to do it except the paint
@rustaholic90294 ай бұрын
I appreciate the comment. The car as you described would have been really nice.
@geraldscott430210 ай бұрын
All that work and you painted it in flat black primer and put $25 trailer wheels on it??
@rustaholic90299 ай бұрын
Yep. Honestly the only reason it got rebuilt was the trailer tires. The previous owner had the stance so tough and the trailer tires just popped. I just had to keep them. lol
