I had a ‘78 5 speed silver model back in the day. Great car, delightfully small compared to the later models, drove like a nifty sports car, Loved It❣️

I had this exact car, same color, as my first car when I was 16, in 1986.

Job well done! My father had this model of car when I was a kid. Same exact color too. I believe his car had a manual transmission. I remember being impressed with how fancy the dash was with the clock and door ajar indicators.

I have a 5speed manual 1980 2dr hatch back. The body is straight including all glass and lights. Interior is in pretty good condition too. It's an awesome side car when one of our newer ones brakes down, but sometimes takes a little longer than should be expected to start up and keep idling in the colder months. Over all a great little car thats super easy to work on.

I owned a 77 accord in 1991-1995 . They were $3999 new. I paid $4000. Drove it for 4 years & sold it for $4000. Spent $300 on repairs in the whole time I had it. Got 600 km/ tank & the only thing I added was a descent stereo. Great car to own.

my first car was a 78 Honda accord, the color of rust, of which the hood was badly faded. it was the biggest heap on the road and smoked worse than a chimney in winter but I loved that thing. interior was great and I put a sweet JVC stereo in it. paid $700 for it. I remember paying $10 for gas back in 89 and that would last me for 2 weeks (school, work, friends houses). aside from the smoking, it wasn't much on reliability and the key broke off in the ignition once but as I said, I loved it. it was all about the round headlights which made me think I had a BMW :)

beautiful car there. The accord is my favorite car, and I usually prefer the 5th gen ones, but this is awesome! I love that manly sounding inline 4 too!

These cars used to rust-out like mad. You'd see them from new to like 2 years old, then on year 3, they'd be COVERED in rust!! :P

What part of the country do you live in? My sister's '78 Accord was a California car all it's life. She had it 17 years without so much as a speck of rust.
@rbagel55
@rbagel55 2 жыл бұрын
@@rcaive0875 It is fairly dry in California. I live on the Texas gulf coast and cars rust. Or if you live on the east coast where it snows a lot like NY state, the salt the put on the road will rust your car. California and the states around it are fairly arid and it isn't as brutal on cars. My Honda here in Texas rusted out, I used to go to the beach a lot , so that did'nt help
@rbagel55
@rbagel55 2 жыл бұрын
Mine had so much rust (because I went to the beach a lot) that it eventually ate the fenders away. The frame rusted eventually so It wasn't safe to drive anymore. Either way it was a good investment because it was very reliable

Utterly absurd bumpers 😆 always hilarious how auto manufacturers were caught flatfooted over new bumper regulations at the time, and came to hacky solutions like this lol. Still a great looking car otherwise, like most Hondas.

through 1979 they were a 2 speed Hondamatic which was a semi-auto. you had to shift it from 1 to 2. I still have my first car a 1980 Accord LX. it is first year 3 speed full automatic!

cvcc was practically the successor of VTEC, right?
@danebeck7900
@danebeck7900 4 жыл бұрын
It's not related to VTEC in any way. CVCC is designed to improve emissions, not power. It uses a pre-combustion chamber that ignites a rich mixture next to the sparkplug which then burns a lean mixture in the rest of the cylinder. It allows stable combustion for an overall mixture that's much more lean than could be used in a normal engine at the time. This is assuming factory tune of course, on a car this old with the carburetor in questionable condition that might not be the case anymore.
