I’m stoked to let ya’ll know this is actually my car! I bought it from the dude who made this video 6 months ago as my first ever car. I hustled until I had the funds to purchase it, with the help from family too. It’s a bad ass whip for sure, and it gets to relive its youthful days with a younger generation driver who more than appreciates it. I named the car Pops. Because it’s an old man car and it used to make a popping sound every once in a while but that doesn’t happen anymore ironically lol. I currently don’t plan to ever get rid of it, it’s a classic.

My dad had this same exact car down to the color.The only difference was that his was a manual.Thank you for the trip down memory lane.I loved the quirky things like the manual central lock,the buzzer when you open the door.The ash trays on the door even had a light that illuminated at night.Enjoy your Honda.

1981 I bought new for just over 10k. Same color with 5 speed transmission. We kept till 1985, and bought again. 2017 still driving a Honda hybrid. They certainly have went up in price. Enjoy your car. PS. I recall water pump went out and it was under warranty. No other issue that I remember. Thank you

thanks for showing. I loved and still do love my 1981 red Honda Accord automatic named Rosaline. I lost her , because of car accident in 1999. Nice to see a car in good condition thats still out there.

Thank you for posting. I used to have a '79 Accord LX hatch with the Hondamatic semi-automatic transmission.

Thanks for watching. I get a ton of people that either owned one or their parents owned one.

Hi, if you have the time, could you briefly explain how Honda's semi-automatic transmission worked vs. their fully automatic 3 speed introduced for 1980. Thanks!
@OhYeahAboutThat9 жыл бұрын
Sure. It was a two-speed transmission with no clutch. You started in first gear until the RPMs and/or speed were high enough; maybe 3000 RPM or 20 MPH. You then had to bump the shift lever into second gear. It was easy. There was a normal park, neutral and reverse like a fully-automatic transmission.

Could do without the intro music but other than that, great review. Unbelievable condition. These cars were a Japanese limousine in their day when Honda had the best Japanese cars by far. (They were also the most expensive in their class by far). Then Mazda came along with the front drive 323 and spoilt the party and the rest, is history...

My 79 hatch rocked. First car. Loved the interior. Big easy to read gauges. Same color as yours. The coin box on the dash. I had a great stereo with a pull out cassette. It had issues with over heating and I had to have 2 head gaskets in less than 2 years and 20k. But it was a nice driver and smooth. The hondamtic was interesting.

I purchased a 1980 Accord LX hatchback new back in 1980. Great car and it was very reliable. I drove it for 11 years, then gave it to a buddy of mine when he came back from Operation Desert Storm in 1992. I have to ask though, since the odometer has 5 digits, how do you know the car has 46,000 miles and not 146,000 miles? One piece of advice, don't break anything. The car is 33 years old. Finding spare parts is extremely difficult.

Nice, I live in the northeast these are all long rusted away and gone. Can't remember the last time I've seen one.

Probably is long gone in 2015 or 2016, just cause he lets his lady drives it you know how females treats them and oil level not checked and wonder why you see a lot of women in suvs and egg sedans. I own a 85 Nissan Sentra without me the car will probably be gone too cause of people out there don't care

Thanks for watching itsmegp46. I know about the mileage because I have the vehicle service history. It is also evident in the condition of the vehicle. I didn't show it in the video but it also came with a factory car cover that looks almost brand new. It has been in a garage for at least 6 months before I bought it.

Hondas have come a long way in nearly 40 years. Compare a 2018 Accord to a 1980 model, and you'll see what I mean.

Those actually are manual power locks. My Dad had an 81 and a light would come on in the dash of doors were unlocked, you push that lever down and it would lock and vice versa if you pull the lever forward...doors would unlock. Cool right?

It is a full size spare. A whole whopping 13 inches.

battleborn1 Awesome! My 1978 Civic has a whole 12 inches of full size spare tire. I just wasn't sure if by 1980 they had gone to the thin space saver spares.
