A bike with little weight for her to learn on? Sounds great. The following was my thought when I sat on my first 500 cc machine: "Ooops, guess I cant't lean it much at all without dropping it. Careful, careful..." Removing that alone will be a great help in my opinion. And I love that you will show videos of her learning to ride. It will bring back fond memories of my time starting the whole thing. Thanks for all your great content, Scott!

Thank you Tsugumo, you understand! That the purpose of this bike is just to have fun and learn while having fun! Simple. Thank you for the compliment and because of comments like this is why I keep going :) Take care, Scott

Just wanted to get back to you on that - I really love your content, so of course I'm looking forward to these new clips. On the other hand it'll be more and more ghastly here from now on, so I guess it just might be better to start the introduction to riding a motorcycle next year... But whatever you do, keep on rollin'!

That's not necessary to say more. My first bike at 16 years old (1968) was a Honda CS 50. After some Jawa, CZ, sport bikes, trails , big trails, touring bikes, I'm back to roots. I bought this week a Royal Enfield Classic 500 and I lough as you did. Thank you Scott.

These old Hondas were amazing, pick your size an XL 600 an XL 350 a two 5180 at 70, they’re all great they’re all amazing bikes and they’re all built bulletproof almost. I just saw an XL 250 with 86,000 miles on it, first kickstart it had the easy start pump or on the throttle come on my personal favorites are the 1975 XL 350 and the 1984 XL 350. I’ve driven an XL 670 and a Honda just had a couple decades of amazing Dual purpose bikes and the things just keep going and going and going come out if you change your oil and keep your filter clean and your valves adjusted a lot of these bikes have over 100 K on them it’s not uncommon to see them at 50 or 60 because people love them and just keep riding them. I doubt you’re going to see many 2020 models out there in 40 years with 100,000 miles on them unless they’ve been swapping out new engines because they’re just not built the same anymore. Don’t get me wrong they’re great some of the technology is great but I win the lottery and have 500,000 sitting in the bank I’m gonna buy a 1984 Honda XL 350, sure I’ll buy other bikes but that’s what I’m looking for first

You actually could have gone to that hill. The bike is capable to make it up the hill with or without road. A small trail is enough. Believe me. I have one, exactly the same, fully functional. In Greece where I live specifications were different with 1.5 more pony for a total of 3.5 and 75km/hr full speed. It was preserved really well but now it is fully restored.. I have done indeed over half a million kilometers on that little thing all these years. The odometer broke at 450000 Km. (4 times went to zero and 50000 more)...ten years ago. It was my first ever bike. Bought in 1981 or 82, second hand already with 40000 kilometers. It was a bargain. I bought it and never left it since, no matter what else vehicles did I have.. Used it every day to go to grocery, to a friend or just for a ride on the mountain next to home. The bike is the best for vacation at the most difficult places like islands. You can go to beaches where no other vehicle could, like bicycles but without getting tired. It is small enough - but not too small - and so light that you can push it and lift it to pass big obstacles. I have been all around Greece for more than ten years. It is a small piece of art. Its 4 stroke motor needs only regular oil changes and nothing bad will happen. Now my son learned how to ride with it and he will get it soon.. :)

My younger brother had a late 70's Honda 50 Minibike as his first bike to keep up with me and my friends on 3 wheelers on the haul roads of Western Kentucky. It always started, it always kept up, and could go places the ATV's could not. Bulletproof! A certain person from time to time would jump his butt on it. It was a hoot! If it got stuck, you could pick it up and move it where you wanted. I learned skills and tricks on that bike. I wish it had big wheels like the one in the video.

The Gilera was a boneshaker but also the fastest of the 50s, followed by the AP50, the FS1E, then the lowly Honda SS :-)

Hilarious!👍😎 I had so much fun watching this video! It was like riding this bike too😂 I would buy one of those or similar as well, but being 6ft 3in tall it's almost like an impossible mission. I sat on a Grom once and it was like having my knees at my chin. So I'd like to thank you for this.

Your welcome Simon, I made this video knowing that it would not get many views and I'd never get a return on investment for making this video. But you got it, you understand completely why I made this video! Thanks for watching and as always Ride safe, take care, Scott

Jajajaja Awesome Scott! You brought a lot memories, nice little fun machine I wish I have one like this to teach my wife how to ride, she tried twice but failed because she grew up with automatic cars...no clutch at all I am the worst teacher... Oh well, is a conversation for other time... Thanks for the video Marcelo
@NothingToProve5 жыл бұрын
Try one of these and if you still fail, then at least you can say you tried your best. :) Or the Honda NC750 DCT. No clutch but heavy, weighing in at 228 kg. So that might be a problem for her too.

Proves my point again that the whole hp race is nonsense. You need to find the bike for you , the one that fits, almost like your best friend.....I know that can be difficult sometimes, especially when advertising is trying to suggest that you need the newest, strongest most recent model there is..... I consider myself lucky to have found that bike and it's just a 50hp one but it fits and maintenance is easy. I guess I got a little philosophical here...... Anyway good luck to you and your wife learning about the wonderful thing of rides bikes. By the way this brings back '80 memories since my first real motorcycle was a XL185S. Safe rides and a steep learning curve 👍🏍

really enjoy your reviews but what is missing over the last year is anything to due with Ducati Multi-stradas especially the 950S
@NothingToProve5 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed. I approached the local Ducati dealership near me this last May and they are so old fashioned that they don't want to work with me. I went there 3 times to talk to them and nothing. Sad. Sure they want to sell me a bike but for me make a video and put it on youtube, oh that's outside the box thinking and not understandable...that it can only help get their name out there and does not cost them anything cause I only ride demo bikes and only new/updated demos. Oh well, I have to look for another Ducati dealership further away. Ride safe, Scott
