Have you ever wanted to teach your wife to ride? If you have then this video is for you and her. We start out in a parking lot with me introducing the bike to her and we go from there. This is her first time on a motorcycle and I decided to film it...mistakes/crashes and all...she is a good sport for allowing me to film her and put it on KZbin. Thank you Tina.

Women at my MSF course were actually better than guys (I guess they actually listen and follow instructions? LOL) when doing the exercises at the parking lot. Your wife seems to be a natural. One minor observation: To tell your wife the old and tried "Look up and look where you want to go". She still did a heck of a lot better than my first time on a bike. Looking forward to the next videos!

Thank you Chris, funny you say that, I was an instructor in my previous life, except I taught a computer system in a class-room setting for Ford Motor Company for about 4 years and I've also taught English to Germans here in Germany for almost 2 years, so I guess those years of teaching are paying off. :) Take care, Scott & Tina

Hi, I just got my basic bike licence from a driving school and after watching your video, I would like to share a bit of the techniques of riding. 1) When parking a bike, always shift the front part to the left so that it will prevent any accidentally rolling off especially if parked on a slope. 2) When getting the bike off the side stand, press the front brakes first , then position the bike straight, then kick off the stand. This is to prevent any accidental rolling of the bike. Then, with the front brakes still applied, sit on the bike. 3) Before starting the bike, it should be in neutral gear. So after riding ends, it should be back in neutral gear before switching off the engine. 4) When starting the engine, make sure it's in neutral gear. Then, clutch in and kick to gear 1. After that, left foot should be on the ground while right foot is on top of the brake. Whenever the bike stops, left foot should be on the ground while right foot is on top of the brake. 5) Turn the throttle a little and maintain it, then release the clutch slowly until the bike moves. Maintain the clutch and throttle. As the bike moves off , it will accelerate naturally and the engine will become louder, that is when u need to shift to the next higher gear. 6) When slowing down, you could teach her to use the "engine brake". Whenever braking is done, both the front and rear brakes need to be applied. When the speed reaches a certain gear, you could tell her to down shift a gear down. This is to use the braking effect of the gears , so called "engine brake". Again, make sure both brakes are constantly applied throughout the braking. 7) When the bike is about to stop, press the clutch to prevent the bike from stalling.

I am new subscriber, first video "2020 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES | First Ride | Review" bring me here and i thought to check your other videos, and found this series of video. I really don't believe i like this love video so much, i think reason i love this video was i feel connected with both of you, the way you both talking, having fun, really amazing. I would love to have my wife watch this series (Even though she is going to say NO, she don't want to ride a motorcycle LOL ) but i have 2 kids and will sure try to teach them same way you did, Great job, well done :) :) :)

Great. Planning to train my wife riding a MC this spring / summer - hopefully she’ll like it. Can’t resist commenting your way of saying No, no..Sounds exactly as we say it in Norway (nei - pronounced, like you’re saying it at 6:15)

Looking forward to watching your wife improve. You're right, it's brave of her to allow you to film her 'baby steps'. In the UK we are taught to always keep your foot on the rear brake when at a standstill. I think it's regarded as good practice for when you do hill starts It, also, lets you feel more in control while waiting at traffic lights, as the bike is never trying to roll off. Two thumbs up for your wife.

Thank Geoff, yea, the right foot rule. In time she will learn that, this was the first time she has ever been on a motorcycle and the most important thing I wanted was for her to be comfortable and I didn't want her to fall because falling would do more damage to her mentally/emotionally than doing it incorrectly at first. I want her to have a lot more experience and skill built up before her first fall, so that when it does happen (and it will) it won't scare her (emotionally) away from motorcycling, instead it will just make her think (logically) what she did wrong and learn from it, correct it and move on and get better instead of being afraid and never getting on a bike again. I've known several people, men and women, like this and there is nothing I can do or say to them that will ever get them back on a bike, you probably do too. I do not want this to happen to her. Thank you for your comment and we appreciate your concern, it shows you care, thank you. It's guys like you that make motorcycling worth while and why I do this channel. Take care, Scott

Great video. You are great at teaching. And your little one is adorable! My hubby taught me this summer. I drive a manual transmission car also. Made learning the clutch and shifting easy. He bought me a Honda rebel 250 in July. I have already put over 1500 miles on it. Planning to step up to possibly a Vulcan S next summer.

This was her first time on a motorcycle. She has not even been on a roller/scooter/moped before either, so this is really her first time on two wheels with a motor. The only thing she is familiar with is a manual transmission, on a car. Thank you Simon! My wife thanks you too! :)
