Battery is not relocated. It’s in the original location, in the trunk.

I remember that as well. It was for better weight distribution. Mine was also a 1978 Spyder, but it was definitely NOT a 124, it was a Fiat 2000 model. and it had 2 liter dual overhead cam engine, if I remember correctly. Although it could have been an 1800cc engine that they rounded off to call it a model 2000. It was peppy, I will tell you that. And NEVER any leg room in the back seat for anyone to sit, the back seat was there for insurance purposes. US insurance companies gouge you for a 2-seater. I did have my son in his baby seat a few times. The rocker panels below the doors were very prone to rust. I did have mine replaced.

"seating for four is there." 1971 fiat spider owner here, have you tried getting into the back seat??

I also own one of these (my third). This one is nice, but I'm not sure I'd buy it from someone who knows so little. Alex pointed out a few issues. Some more - you cannot get anyone in the back seat - it's not a 4 seater. As was pointed out the 1608 engine is from an earlier Spider - the 78 came with an 1800. It does have a 5 speed, but the gearing isn't optimal for highway driving. If you like doing 4000 RPM at 65 then this is the car to cruise the highway. I find it much more appropriate for back roads at lower speeds. Overall a nicely done car that was presented by someone who knows nothing about Fiat Spiders.

a 78' should be an 1800cc at least... my 77' is an 1800cc and after 79' they went to 2L... This is supposed to be an 1800cc not a 1600

That's what I said!! My '78 is a 1800cc, so when he said "we've added a 1600cc motor so it's really power up now" I laughed! 1800cc isn't even all that fast, 1600 must be slow as dicks! Haha. I love my '78 to death, it is my first car ever, and I'm glad it was. I picked it up for 2k and restored it. I put in around 9k and it runs great.

Yes, that model year had an 1800 cc 80 hp engine. However, I assume he means the 1600 cc here has more hp than the original. Calling this a 4-seater is a joke although it does have seat belts for 4 passengers. You can get one adult in the back (sideways) for a short emergency trip. Maybe 2 very small kids back there max,

This is all old news now but just for fun: 1: As others have noted, it should be 1800cc, not 1600. The car originally came with 1400cc in '69, went to 1600cc in the States until '76, then hit 1800cc. 2: He mentions that the battery was relocated. From where? It was in the trunk as of 1978 anyway, if not sooner. 3: Side mirrors are wrong. 4: They all had electric engine fans. 4: They all had disc brakes, you doof, that's not an upgrade. They also had an aluminum, twin-cam, belt-drive head while GB was still using wood in the chassis of some cars. 5: Side marker lights are wrong for 1978. 5: Stop saying, "Alright", alright? 6: Kill the lame music.

My friend picked an older model up for $2500. It worked (barely). They restored it fairly well, not costing them a ton. Rode in one and damn, dream car. They just bought two more spyders and also a fiat wagon.

That's a nice car, and the interior is as good as I've seen in a 124.If I was restoring a spider though, I'd never put those bumpers back on - the earlier cars look much better. And I would never buy one from Ron Jeremy..............

Beautiful restoration. You should really talk to someone who owns one and knows Fiats before going on about upgrades, most of them were stock for that car. Still If I was a rich guy I'd buy it. I had a 1969 painted the same color and I loved driving this thing. Especially on winding roads. It was an absolutely wonderful car to drive, not for the power but for the handling and its great looks. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith

Sir, you do not know Fiats well enough. The '78 model 124 had a 1756 cc engine, so it can't possibly be smaller then the 1600 you talk about. You say the stock engine is much smaller. Where did you hear this? Please be accurate. I have a '75 124 Sport Coupe with the stock 1756 cc engine. The 1600 was in earlier years 124 models. Peace!

It may be more expensive, but ehhhh, you kinda ruined the whole Italian look for a modern one, which doesn't quite fit this car, really it was meant for a nice cherry red I think, but hey, just my two cents. Good detail work though, I must admit

Ace you should have come to our last rally. We drove 8 Fiat spiders and one Alfa spider through the national parks in Utah and Colorado for a total of 1800 miles. Two of the guys drove their spiders back to Kansas, the others were trailered to Houston. All vintage 70's and early 80's. We have about 30 every year in Hill country and always drive 600 to 700 miles.
