There is just something musical and rather satisfying about the infamous growl the brushrolls on these machines produced. You could tell your carpet was getting a thorough clean not just by the visual bouncing of the dirt and grit, but by the sound of the roller beating and sweeping each carpet fiber.

The vintage Vacs like this one still clean carpets better than most modern day vacuum's. The old technology that James Spangler used to invent the very first portable "Hoover" Vacuum a long time ago, still to this day remains the best way to get carpets the completely clean, that's why a lot of hotels still use this style of vacuum, be it a modern day version like a Sanitare but the technology is exactly the same. Vintage Hoover's are some of the very best vacuum's ever made in my opinion 👌

Enjoyed this very much so while being educated about the history of the vacuum & so forth. I myself cleaned my flat with my 1926 Hoover model 700. Which was cutting edge technology back in her hay day as it was Hoover’s very first machine to introduce positive agitation. It Is were Hoover got its Slogan “it beats as it sweeps as it cleans” long live Hoover.

I must say, Hoover really did know how to build a vacuum back in the day! I recently won a Decade 80 in fairly good condition at auction, and have been blown away by its performance. Aside from my Riccar-made Simplicity Tandem, nothing else in my collection lifts and agitates the carpet quite like it. My only real issue is the utter lack of filtration on these old Hoovers - even with the 'allergen' type A bags, I could feel myself getting itchy and sneezing every time I vacuumed. I cobbled together a solution using the outer cloth bag from a Conquest, which has three layers of fabric for considerably better filtration. It doesn't look quite original anymore, but it also doesn't look as bad as one might think!

the led u tired did it support both ac and dc power. i know when i replaced the the bulb in my kirby with an led the first one i bought only worked with dc voltage so it would flicker off and on. i bought different bulb that worked with both ac and dc and that one works perfect. so just make sure u get one that support ac power as it seem most old vacuums used ac for the bulbs were as these led are mostly made for use in cars and those pretty much all run on dc.

Thank you for this highly-educational video showing the insides of your famous British Hoover Senior. Our North American Hoover Convertibles also used a rear slot for the hose converter - throughout the 1960’s and early 1970’s. I always wondered if the narrow channel in the converter was prone to clogging - especially if used with a floor brush to clean large bits of dirt off a bare floor. Was clogging a common problem with this flat converter?
@ibaisaic5 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had problems with clogging, but I’ve hardly used the tools on a Senior and the suction is quite poor so it would struggle with large particles from a hard floor. It’s something I will have to try at some point.
@briant53785 жыл бұрын
ibaisaic That makes a lot of sense Roger - the weak suction would probably not pick up particles large enough to clog the converter - certainly not heavy salt or gravel brought into an entryway by shoes and boots. The pan converters certainly grab more of the fan’s suction - the rear converters allow suction to leak out toward the brush with the movement of the belt.

Wow! Love your channel! Keep up the amazing work! One of my, if not my absolute, favorite machines is a Filter Queen; however, I haven’t seen any Filter Queens on your channel. Any chance one might pop up one of these days? I have 3 of them, myself. My all-time favorite Filter Queen is my brown, D33 model from the 1970’s, with the automatic cord rewind. Anywho, I would love to see some Filter Queens on your channel! Cheers! AC

They were probably too aggressive with the carpet, and for pet owners, probably didn't do a good job with pet hair.
@macraghnaill35534 жыл бұрын
@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 I believe it was because they damaged hard floors, so changed to the turbo type brushroll. I have a junior and it's good with dog hair and sand, far better than modern cleaners which tend to leave the sand in the carpet
