The Dial-A-Matic was Hoover's first clean air machine and I believe one of the first in the industry. Hoover later sold their clean air design to Panasonic and thus, the Jet-Flo series of uprights were born which really helped to boost Panasonic's name in North America.
@madwatermelon13164 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly it didn't sell very well in Britain. Mabye that's why when Hoover designed the Turbopower they decided it would be "dirty fan" until on board cleaning tools became more popular with uprights.

Hi Roger love the green they are called the Hoover Dynamic here in Australia we got them in the Pumpkin orange and a yellow one too great machines makes no difference the way the handle wire connects 👍

Hi Roger, I did a video on the same vacuum as this and told a story too go along with it. I put a Numatic bag in for better filtration and air flow. I get mine out and take it for a spin just for some fun. PS. Back when this vacuum was produced they didn’t have polarized plugs so it really won’t make a difference at this point. Enjoy.

This was the world’s first clean air upright. I had a harvest gold one for a short time. They were French made at the same plant as the suitcase canister machines. I don’t think there was another clean air machine made to complete until Sebo hit the market in 1977.

Great demonstration of the Hoover dial o matic . I have that exact Hoover myself and I believe do the machine is from the early 70s in the green color you were referring to is called avocado green which was one of many popular colors in the 70s. As for the brush roll you may try greasing or oiling or both on the bearings to see if that would smooth it out and also please do a follow up video of any updates of this particular machine.

Beautiful Dial a Matic. Love the green color on it. I really want to get the power drive model of this.

I really like this model's styling! It looks expensively made. Certainly there must have been a cover for the hole at the rear. Delightful video as always.

I've been really thinking about getting a Dial-A-Matic recently, preferably one the power drive models, specifically the blue U6039 or the light brown U6041. I like how these were the first bypass designed upright way before the Windtunnel.

The plug in the handel doesn't matter which way its pluged in nothing will run backwards if changed around. The metal pice under the suction control is in the correct spot its a weird design but thats how it goes. As for the brush the bearings are worn out needs replacing it should sound much quieter than that ill see if i have an extra hose for the base if not i might be able to make you one for the main hose with tools ill have to look i might have one of them as well Some day ill start showing all of my vacuums as well

@@David49305 Mine (identical to this one!) still works fine, just used it in both modes for about 30 minutes cleaning our guest room - not bad for a free vacuum from a former GF in the early 90's! And she'd been given it several years earlier - I'm amazed anyone knows about them still, all I see here in the US is crappy all plastic things! No tools needed to remove the base plate on mine, just twist the 2 latches clear of their detents and remove plate!

Prior to sometime in the late 1980s we did not use/mandate polarized plugs(non reversible plugs) in the USA. I know you've already figured this out, but in the future should you find an American vacuum without differently sized plugs, you can plug any way you should desire.

dont your customs office have to put a tape on it that shows that it was opened by customs if they opened it them. here in Canada if customs opens something they have to retape it with a special tape that says csba inspected this package. in 25 years of buying stuff online i have only ever had 3 packaged opened by customs.
