1978 Randy Rhoads Private Lesson

I have hours of Randy patiently showing me stuff ,sounds just like this ,that little room echo . I was 12/13,14 ,until he took off for Ozzy , and then he came back after recording blizzard of Ozz and I took a few more lessons ,Joe Homes also took them when he came back for a break. I had almost the same talk about him and him not having Marshalls and I was about 15 ,but listen to him with the practice amp and that crazy MXR distortion + ! It's all in the fingers of the master! I'm glad I have my tapes ,still thinking about putting them up on KZbin.

That would be so fantastic of you! Anything of Randy"s would be great, and hundreds of hours would be awesome! I was lucky enough to get some Ozzy Randy bootlegs! They were great and some as good as Tribute. I learned a lot just from hearing this 8 minute video, anything would be greatly appreciated. Dis Randy teach with the white Les Paul, or something Les valuable to him? I save my best guitar for just recording, so I don't damage it. My practice guitar is good though, too, so I'm lucky to have both.

I'm a longtime guitar instructor....and Randy's lesson here is incredibly thorough. What's so impressive is: it's from 1978....and it's a rock guitar lesson. Very few rock guitar teachers today are so knowledgeable...because many create their own theory...and are instinctive....but Randy...in 1978: every bit as thorough and informed as a jazz teacher in year 20 of teaching ;)

Yeah but it was the guy that was taking the lesson that first came up with that riff and Randy told the dude that was good and that he should make a song with that riff .but the student told Randy he could use it to make a song and Randy asked the kid "you don't mind" ? and the guy said go ahead and Randy thanked him .Go back and listen to it again. that first time you hear that riff it was the student that played is saying he had came up with it

Randy would share his tricks and knowledge with anyone. He is the best guitarist ever. I was in basic training at Ft Leonardwood when he passed. We didn't find out until we graduated a few weeks later. I was devastated. I've been playing guitar for years and would be grateful if i could play half as good as him. RIP ❤

He seems so genuine humble. He's a teacher at heart and seems willing to advise, help and teacher others what he can. It's crazy because I'm sure he's a lot of people favorite guitarist but, I first feel in love with his Mr. Crowley solo which is my favorite solo and all his other melodics solos he's created. Judging from documentaries and incite what other fellow guitarist, close friends of his and family have stated and said of Randy as a humble person. What also attract me most from him be my upmost favorite guitarist is that he made you feel as if you were talking to a normal genuine person not giving you the feel that he's all high and mighty and not blinding himself from fame and glory knowing that with his talent and skills he doesn't result himself from bring out a bad persona. I really respect his talent and work of art as a incredible musician but what made me feel victim to being his biggest fan and my favorite guitarist is his kind nature and humble side.

I began playing guitar at age 10, I'm now 60, I was 10 in 1973, so since I enjoyed rock music, I remember playing songs by Black Sabbath like Iron Man and the famous first guitar song of many new guitarists back then which was Smoke on the Water by Richie Blackmoore & Deep Purple. In 1978 Eddie amazed us with his guitar licks in the mighty Van Halen. I was a freshman in highschool when I went to my first concert with Mom and friends at Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum to see the KISS Dynasty tour. To top it off, the world was changed as Randy and Ozzy gave us the Blizzard of Ozz record in March of 1981 (6 months earlier in the UK) which was my graduation year. My point is that I was very fortunate to be at the age I was at while I was playing guitar and enjoying and experiencing some of the very best Rock music ever to be created right at the pinnacle of Rock music's most pure, amazing and world changing time, in my opinion. This really is an excellent and noteworthy Channel. 🤍 It's also serves as a historical record of one of the world's most admired guitarists. Thanks for sharing and doing such a top notch, professional job for all your Viewers and Randy's longtime fans. -☀️

For me personally, he's my go to if I have to pick a number one rock guitarist in the world. Not only was he so technically good but an extremely talented musician. You could have played his stuff to Bach - and Bach would have understood where Randy was going with a song, a riff, a solo.

@@Shan-5544there are rumors that the pilots ex wife had something to do with the band and she was there standing next to the bus and they had a bad divorce and he was trying to scare her or was going to try to crash into her. Supposedly I believe it was someone (I can’t remember who, it’s in one of the books maybe Bob daisley) said they saw Randy pulling the pilot away and that Randy may have saved everyone on the bus. It’s either in Rudy’s book or Bob Daisleys book but man do I wish I knew the truth. Imagine that, Randy may have died a hero and saved Ozzy and everyone else on the bus. It’s Just so sad, I wish he didn’t die. I can’t explain it but his music just touches my soul. Imagine what the music he would have made if he had another 40 years to record music. 😢

@@LouisPSU I did read a report on line and it did say that the pilot had cocaine in his system. The report did say something about the pilot may have been tryin to kill his wife ( kinda blows my mind ). There may be some truth to that since you and me both read it somewhere. Well you read something similar. Louis, I know what you mean, I would give anything if Randy hadn’t got in that plane. That report said that Randy hated to fly but the pilot kept bugging him trying to talk him into getting in the plane so Randy gave in and got on. Report said Randy only had nicotine in his system and the pilot had cocaine in his, also said (and this just tears my heart out of my chest, they Could only identify Randy by the jewelry he had on. I mean, I could cry, it’s just the saddest thing eve, Randy was so amazing. Did you listen to those tapes where he’s playin The blues when he was 15, there online. That’s where I listened to em . God he was so good, he could’ve done anything. I do think about where he would be today. He would have been the best in the world in my eyes. Randy was a rare treasure. He sure was adored and he’s missed terribly. I wish he had of died either. So so sad.😢❤️🙏🕊

@@Shan-5544 yea Randy didn’t do drugs. He loved to take pictures so he go on the plane to try to take some aerial photos. It’s so sad. Yes I heard that clip of him playing blues when he was 15. He was light years ahead of everyone and wasn’t even in his prime yet. His musical knowledge was so vast compared to all the other rockers can’t imagine what he would have created. I was just in SoCal and was so excited to go to Musonia but the landslides messed up my trip and it was closed when I got there. I was so upset. Do you play? Also how did you know it was Louis? LOL. Have you ever seen any of the Japanese documentaries, good stuff! The only other guitarist who ever gave me a similar feeling was Vito Bratta and of course he bagged it in too LOL. Get back to me. The beginning sounds like it could have been the making of Welcome to the Jungle . Just a thought ...... Randy Rhoads was truly one of a kind. I was fortunate enough to see him play at the CU Events Center in Boulder , CO. January 10th 1982. Ticket prices were insane , I had to dish out Twelve dollars and ten cents ...... T shirt was seven dollars... Not to get off track, and all joking aside , but I don't know how anyone can even afford to go to a concert these days at 200 .00 for a cheap seat . Peace ......

This is awesome. I always consider EVH and RR unique in that they were technically brilliant without sacrificing melodic beauty. Randy goes though and says it in detail pretty well. It's using pull off and hammer on with open strings

@@RandyRhoadsClips yes I followed what he was saying but he is adding in a note. So he starts by fretting the A note on the D string, then pulls off to open D and then upstrokes the open A. Then he says he is fretting the C note on the A string, pull off to open A and then I can’t seem to follow it

@@BucketTedd I’ve tried so hard to follow by slow it down and maybe it’s Randy’s impeccable machine like precision and timing but i just can’t get it going like he does. The man was absolute machine. I’ve developed so much as a guitar player by playing Randy’s riffs. It would be a shame if we didn’t all learn and practice this.

I think he is hitting C, pulling off to A and upstroking the E. Then going to G on the A string and doing the same thing. Then E on A string etc…

I think the reason Randy got better on guitar was because of his teachings!!!!😊 ❤ Randy Rhoads!!!! I like how he explains things!!!!😅😊😂 I also like his philosophy on equipment!!!!!!😊 I cant afford all the latest gear!!!! Especially those amp model amps!!!! Axe FX and Kemper amps!!!! And thoses expensive tube amps!!!! Engel, Soldano, Mesa Boogie, and Marshall's!!!!! Even the EVH amps are out of my reach!!!! Well maybe the EVH Iconic series I might be able to afford!!! Oh well I will stick with my Orange Crush 120!!!!😊😮😊😊😊😊😮
