Fred Biletnikoff was always fun to watch. He wore no pads from the waist down and the tiniest shoulder pads, all to allow him to move better. His play was impeccable too, with his signature “come back to the ball,” after passing the first down marker, giving Oakland the yard’s needed to keep moving the ball. And let’s not forget his red “stickem” he wore on his socks. Every young boy in NorCal watching football wanted that same stuff during neighborhood pickup games and during Pee-Wee league games.

In the late 70's into early 80's, Scully did work for CBS late in the NFL season, after baseball was over, including playoffs. He would be their #2 play by play guy behind Summeral. Probably didn't do many Raiders games because they would have to host an NFC team with the right kind of match up to get the CBS #2 crew.

For lst time since 1971-1972 season Raiders missed playoffs/this was also late Johnny Madden's last game as club's head coach. Meanwhile, Vikings would face off against Rams in playoffs for IIIrd successive season/IVth time in 5 seasons. They dueled against each other in N.F.C. Div. Playoffs on New Yr.'s Eve, 1978 (December 31, 1978-Sun.) in L.A. Coliseum w/Rams coming out victorious, 34-10 as they outscored Vikes 24-0 in llnd half after 2 teams were tied at 10 all at halftime. And w/that win they earned home date with defending Super Bowl winners from season prior (1977-1978), Cowboys in N.F.C. Championship Game, but after scoreless lst half by both teams, it would be Cowboys in llnd half as they outscored Rams, 28-0 in half No. II enabling them to Super Bowl, XIII where they'd lose 35-31 to Steelers
