If you go back 1 year, the same Russian team beat the best players in the world, who were employed by the NHL. The very first odd numbered series between the Soviets & North America & or the NHL. After swapping wins in the first two games, the Soviets went on to win the 3rd & deciding game 6-0. They did this without the help of Tretiak & Kharlamov. Tret. had the flu, while Kharlamov was suffering from the usual, 'back Alley' treatment he got used to from N/Americans. The officials would look the other way when the 'Goons' would lay the lumber on him, not that he was the only target, but he was the prime target. The US "Stole The Gold", not only in 1980, but also in 1960,....just happens,.... they were both played at home,,,,Hmmmm? The Soviets owned hockey from 1952, till the late 90's & then only because we did catch up somewhat, but we still requires the assistance of the Zebras!

Tretiak was playing bad in 1980, he gave up two bad goals Vs USA that’s why coach pulled him out.
