For years I told my family that I remembered riding a monorail train, but it wasn’t at Disney. Your video make me so happy for finally showing them I’m not crazy and, even better, it brought back wonderful memories. Thank you

I worked there in 1986. Best job I ever had. Loved the animals, coworkers, and visitors.

Blessed that i got one ride on this summer of 87 or 88. My 1st time at the park. I was 9 or 10. I had to ride the Blue Racer backwards, the Beast, and the Vortex.

Thanks for shooting this - I'm working on a documentary for the park and would love to use some of this for the video, I would link back to your video in the description, if that's all right with you. Please let me know, thanks!

Thanks for this video. I grew up close to the park. My family went in 74 before the monorail was installed and you had to drive through. We also went back after it was installed in 75. The animal's upkeep was too expensive so I believe most of the animals were rehomed at Busch Gardens Tampa. The monorail went to Ohio, I think.

Was sad to see this go. Not only did you get to look at some great animals, you got to do so in AC. Such a nice break on those hot, humid summer days.

The Monorail now sits at Jungle Jims Grocery store in Fairfield, Ohio. It does move at times on a short track but it doesn't go far; mostly just back and forth.

When have you ever seen it move? From what I understand, it's essentially illegal for them to run it.
@kevinhisle21594 жыл бұрын
I've seen it when it was moving in the 2005-2010 range at times. Not lately.

Where was this located and what is in its place now?

I believe that The Bat now occupies a portion of what the old safari park used to be. If you look closely, I'm pretty sure that you can still see some of the monorail supports from the walkway leading to the coaster.

This monorail now operates at jungle jims in ohio

Since no one has answered your question, nothing, really. The Bat is in a valley that was not part of the monorail. The area that used to be the monorail is actually just part of the park now. It used to be called Action Zone I think. I'm pretty sure most of the area around the monorail became an expanded parking lot. So the correct answer is nothing... or, a lot of things.

Most of the land on the far side of the Racers. Flight of Fear no occupies a portion of the land this attraction was located on as well as the expanded parking.

Love this... sad side note though. KI worker was killed when he left his atv to take a pee and was mauled by one of the animals if I remember correctly

Was the animals that you went past alive or were they plastic??? I couldn't tell if the birds at the beginning was a live or not case it went threw to fast so I know you could answer that question for me. It is such a great video. Well all your videos are worth watching and I enjoy each min of them. I was born in 1981 so I get to see what I missed out on and that has made me happy. You did a great job recording and it is one of the nicest video of this amusement parks I have ever seen. Thanks for letting me see you recording and I can not weight to see what you come up with next to get my attention. May god bless you and may you have great luck with everything you do in your life.

All of the animals were real and alive. The preserve was divided into different zones by continent. With more dangerous animals separated from the heard animals and birds. Lions and Tigers were kept on the preserve up to 1986. Elephants were kept in a special are. Female rhinos were on the preserve with a male rhino kept in a separate enclosure. The preserve closed at the end of the 1994 season and the animals were relocated in 1995. The "monorail" had 7 trains that could carry about 4 to 8 people a row. It wasn't technically a monorail, there were two rails and the trains moved on tires along the rails receiving power from the contacts underneath the rail.

The animals were very much alive. It was like a miniature zoo on a monorail track. I loved seeing the lions everytime we went.
