I had 3 or 4 of these. I used to find them for nothing in junk shops. They’re great and very versatile. That eq is so useful and quite musical.

I have this pedal and a couple of more pearl pedals. I almost sold this. This is a killer and a true Gem of an overdrive pedal!

I've still got 5 of the Pearl Pedals from the 80's. These are their Chorus, Overdrive, Phaser, Flanger, and Compressor pedals. I bought them all in an already put together pedal board in a powered brief type case with the PEARL name on the outside of the top of the pedal board case they all came in with the power supply and all.

+TVLTNT The Pearl stuff is so good that sounds like a great set up.

+TVLTNT are those pearl the same as Korg/yamaha?
@TVLTNT8 жыл бұрын
+David Hi David, No not either Korg or Yamaha. Gibson in the 70's & 80's were the distributor for Pearl Drums in the US. I was both an authorized dealer for my music store for Gibson, Epiphone & Pearl back then. So my Sales Rep from Gibson came in to my store (much to my surprise having the Pearl name instead of Gibson) and he showed me the pedals and even though I myself was using MXR, Boss & Ibanez pedals. I must admit that I sold all of my classic late 70's Japan made Ibanez & Boss pedals that are worth some big bucks these days and the 5 Pearl pedals took their place for my studio and live band gigs. While I'm happy to still have the Pearl pedals because the sound on them *ARE* so good as Shane says they are, but I just wish I still had my other original Boss & Ibanez pedals too.

+intheblues I still use them but of course over the past years I've just kept getting new pedals as I've felt the need for their sound as well as what some of them can do these days. All great tools to have as I'm sure you well know yourself Shane. I'll tell you your Strat certainly sounds AWESOME with that pedal on of the best I've heard you use ever IMHO. I'd love to hear the OD-05 with some of your other guitars as well. I'm sure it'll sound great with your Tokai 335, SG, & your Tele and Les Paul models too.

***** thanks man, I asked because in terms of design they are similar to the Yamaha/Korg. You did a good thing, They do sound excelent.

I had one of these from the time I was a teenager in the 80s until it went "missing" sometime in the early 2000s. Not only did it sound amazing, it was built like a tank.

I built myself a clone using a pcb from Aion Electronics, and while I intended to use it just as a dirty boost for stacking, I'm finding it to be much more versatile than that, and I may drop another OD off the board. Highly recommended. One thing the demo didn't show is the interactivity between the controls. The eq boost is before the drive section, so the amount of drive and volume are very much affected by the eq level. Not a bad thing, just a thing. With the eq boosted and gain anywhere off the floor, the pedal is really loud, and you have to turn the level way down to get to unity. When the eq is scooped, OTOH, the pedal gets pretty clean and you need to crank it more for a boost or significant drive. All good.

One of the best overdrives I have heard. I have an 80s made in Japan Tokai Metaldriver(don't be misled by the name---it's not metal at all.If it was it wouldn't be for me!)which has a similar Frequency control.I love it.I'm wondering if it's the same pedal under a different name?

The metal driver is defo a tube screamer variant, like this, but this has more range (had both).

Hello there! I know this video is 2 years old, but I recently got a Pearl OD-05 but I need a new power supply. The pedal doesn't have any sticker on it so I can't really tell how much power it needs. I know that the negative is inside and that it needs 9V, but I don't know how manny mA it needs. Could you please help me out with this info?
@WonkeyWabbit5 жыл бұрын
Probably far to late for you. but for others, it's an analogue podal, so is only going to take a few mA. Any 9v DC pedal power supply with centre negative will work with it.
