The Toro lawn mower has the rare 4cycle Suzuki Engine and the aluminum deck you have the very rare last forever lawn mower.

That 4-cycle Suzuki Engine is wonderful. A keeper.

It's a 4hp VMG6 Suzuki engine, and the mower is a model 20622. Seeing it has "ball" shifter knobs, it is a 1988 or prior.

I have that same exact Toro gts push mower. I'm hoping to make a few videos trying to restore it. It's in about the same if not slightly better shape. I used to have the 1970s Toro with the muffler facing inside the deck. The muffler rusted out after soo much use. Can't believe I threw out that mower. I should've kept it. 😂

The Jacobsen is a mid 80s - mid 90s greens mower for golf courses. The Robin ec10 engine is the dead giveaway due to not being built in Japan until this period not the 50s. Your supposed to mow tall grass 3-4 inches with the tires on and remove the tires to mow 2 inches and lower. Good luck and much love from Houston, TX USA.

thank you so much for the info! but I am almost positive the engine says made in Japan on it but I will have to check, I got it running and it’s a cool little two stroke engine!

I have the exact Toro Mower with the Susuki engine. Runs fantastic. Yes Japanese built. However I knocked off the governor spring and can't quite figure out where it loops. It's hidden behind the metal side plate. Can you tell me how it's placed on yours please. Thanks.

Suzuki made great 2 and 4 cycle lawnmower engines, however, if that Mikuni carb needs parts you better be sitting down, I paid 28.00 for a needle and seat for the 2 cycle.

Just got a Toro recycler with 19 inch aluminum deck and automatic drive that doesn’t run very well. Will be a future project. Those aluminum toros sure are nice, not like the stamped steel crap of most movers today.

@@Thehomepros6221 100% true unless you buy pro grade stuff. And even then they are not as durable as before. I actually got a much older Honda lawnmower this weekend too. More of a project than the Toro (it was just a clogged air filter! 😁)

Listen to that old Toro Growl...Look at the quality of the Deck and Cowling..made to last as opposed to Chinese box store junk,,,,I swear the cowlings seem to be made out ice cream containers on Chinese mowers they are that flimsy....Much better to grab an old machine..learn how it works and refurbish than buy crap...Its the same deal here in Australia mate....Great video mate.
@Thehomepros62212 жыл бұрын
I beleive the deck is made out of magnesium! It’s a solid mower wish they still made things like they use to!!
@anonanon72356 ай бұрын
Hey, the Chinese are just building the engines as specified by the off-brand American/Japanese manufacturers, even the newer "made in USA mowers" are of the same thin stamped out steel. You'll have to go commercial to find higher quality stuff. Point is, stop blaming everything on China!

Doing a complete restoration on one of these - I'm about $500 into it at this point. Parts are SCARCE, but if you keep looking, you'll find what you need. Tried of modern Chinese GARBAGE... The Toro I'm restoring has been in regular use since 1988 and poorly maintained for the past 15 or so years; but despite all that, the wear items are still technically in reasonable condition.

Wonderful. I'm restoring 2 of these. I have a really ugly one from 1984/1985, Model Number tag is missing. I'm using Rustoleum 2X Apple Red Gloss paint which isn't apparently gasoline resistant. A forum said it matches Toro Red but it seems to be a very bright red. I got it running good but it is ugly. The rear tires are bald. Worst part is that the belt cover is missing. My neighbor's are having a fit that I am using a 2-cycle Mower. They are Portland Oregon Greenies and have switched to Cordless Mowers - not me! One neighbor is threatening me and says he will take action if he catches me mowing with it again. Would love to see pictures of your project. Also, I don't know my Model Number but need a drive belt cover.

I feel so bad for you my friend ☹️, all these greenies yell and scream earth this planet that but every place they go they leave filth,trash and drugs. Once I get some projects finished I’d like to restore it. Get u some automotive enamel from a car paint store and use that in a single stage or a base coat clear coat, it will be much better then Rustoleum. Thanks for the comment and vote red this year toro red hahah

@@scotta9114 1) fuck the neighbors - you’re doing NOTHING illegal and they have ZERO grounds to complain. 2) You can make ANY RustOleum spray paint fuel resistant by topcoating it with SprayMax 2K clear, but be sure to give it at least a full week of curing time before clear coating it.
