He was a naturally beautiful, elegant skater. It is nice to hear how proud you are of your dad!

Wow! Is Charlie Tickner really your dad? Well tell him that many of us skaters from that era still remember his skating fondly. Even though I am British and I was naturally always rooting for Robin Cousins I loved to watch your father skate. I was so pleased when he won Worlds in 1978. Best wishes.

I know Charlie! He's very nice, he skates at my rink sometimes to coach. I met him at a skating clinic at my rink!

His style resembles Brian Boitano. I understand both were from Nor Cal's Bay Area. Since both were from the same area, I wonder if Brian observed Charlie's skating a lot and then took it a step further as he was training and developing his skating.

Without Kovalev in the mix, he was given a bronze. Santee and Hamilton were far better

kovalev was so out of shape ( and drunk) to even do an axel. Hamilton was 3 places behind.

@@rolandgreen7484 I dont know why he even showed up because in training at Lake Placid he couldnt even do an axel in training,

Only two clean triple jumps, both triple toeloops. And incredible 5,8 for technical merit?! Triple lutz was not good as Dick Button declared - it was twofooted.
