This seemed like an old commercial the first time I saw it (Actually it was) ..but at only a little over 2.00(!) a message, how could you lose?

somebody at work today said "wait for the beep" and I immediately flashed back to this commercial and the rap song.. I was able to sing along with it still. lol! I love nostalgia

I remember this commercial when we got our first answering machine. I was just a little kid, and I asked my mother why we didn't get that tape. Her answer was: "Some of us actually have jobs, and over my dead body is my boss going to hear THAT if I'm not home."

FireMinstrel hey at least you had an answering machine at this time. It took my parents years before I was able to convince them to get an answering machine. Their motto; "if it's that important, they'll call back."

Crazy Calls actually was a set of two cassettes. Each cassette had seven messages for answering machines. This means there was fourteen messages between the two cassettes.

I have a Crazy Calls tape that I bought on eBay, and I use the rap as my voicemail greeting. If you notice, by the way, only six recordings are played in this commercial. The one that is not used is Humphrey Bogart themed for those who haven't heard it.

It was meant for people who could afford it. Answer machines cost 200-500 bucks and minimum wage was like $3 an hour.

What happened to the one here that was the actual recording, where they teach you how to do it. You have to put the machine the tape is playing from up to the answering machine, wait until the fourth little beep then hit record on your answering machine. It also played all 7 of them, including the Humphrey Bogart one you don't hear in the commercial.

I remember they did post the cassette feed. The uploader who posted it either deleted the video, or their account received too many strikes and got suspended.

I remember Ken Zimmermann telling me about the Beethoven's Fifth in third grade. I saw another commercial like this that started with a lion roaring and later in the commercial had people at a party yelling "Get naked!"
