1981 C3 Corvette Interior Carpet Install Video

In this video I show the short version of how to install carpet into you C3 Corvette. I installed carpet into a 1981 Corvette. This will be identical to 1978-1982 Corvettes; If you have a 1968-1977 Corvette, installing the main carpet will be the same, just you do not have and side panels.

The ACC carpeting sets have the cut out already made for the rear storage area, for what that’s worth.

I usually get my carpet from Willcox Corvette. It comes already pre formed and usually matches up pretty good. Just be sure you order your door panels and carpet from the same place so the colors match. Shop around for price, because you usually get the same product from each vendor, just marked up or down.

Aww, man. I just removed the carpet from my 75. The po had put some awful thin crappy carpet in. This video made me feel so much better about the process.

Nice job! this would have been a perfect time to put in Dynamat insulation through out the car. I put the insulation in my 81", glued that in and put the carpets on the top. I had to put it in because of the transmission whine and the noise from the rear tires on a long trip. Not only did it quite the ride , the A/C didn't work as hard either....

The 79 threw 82 vettes has always been my favorite body design course i like the 57 threw 69 as well

426 SUPER BEE I only like the 75 and 76 body styles. Maybe because I have a 76 (biased). But I don't like the rear bubble window on the 79+ and the pre 74 vettes had the chrome bumpers which I don't like either.

The PO of my car dyed the door panels tan from a different color (including the door carpet) so I cant say how well the new matches the old since I dont have any original color camel left. The carpet seems to me to be great quality. I have bought carpet from Willcox 5 times or so and will keep buying from them as long as they make a good product. Job took me about four hours, but I have done it before & have had practice. The more you do it the better you get, take your time & you will be fine

Ben, I have a 81 and my carpet is listed as camel . How did the carpet from Wiilcox match up with the carpet on the doors for color and texture ? Did the carpet seem to be of a high quality ? Would you buy from them again if you had to carpet another Vette. Anything you`d do different second time around ? How long did the complete job take you to put in the carpet the seats and trim ? Do you happen to remember if this corvette had a driver side power seat? I can't seem to get my manual rails to bolt into place because they are too long, and I'm wondering if the power seat rails are shorter than the manual ones

Power seat and manual seat floor pans are different, power seat pans are about three inches deeper. Also the power seat has studs that go through the floor, where the manual seat has bolt holes in the tracks

The color you used in this video was "Camel Code" (want let me put the link) You also mentioned the price was about $260 but it is priced here for $349. Thoughts?
