That car looks bloody brilliant. The shape looks great, very well proportioned. Reminds me of the RS1700T that had the BDT engine in it. edit - wrote this just before I heard it was shortened - top job, really does look right.

Really interesting build. I owned a S1 Escort RS turbo back in the day. Worst car I’ve ever owned, but I just loved the look of the thing. Now I daily a Golf R. Would love to see this weapon completed.

Seems like the perfect, B-road blaster for a late night/early morning stress relief on some deserted back roads, that are exactly what we have in SW Scotland, if Ur ever in the area there's some hidden gems around Stranraer & outlying villages, try Stranraer to Portpatrick to whet the appetite, then Portpatrick to Sandhead, Portlogan, Drummore, these r the type of roads where you really learn to drive on, without cameras, street lights, traffic etc, but plenty of Farm animals & Tractors just to keep U on Ur toes.

What was once an amazing car and a true classic is then taken away. However, I had one of those and it did brake down a lot unlike the cars today very slow too lol. I’m all up for this new style of build, classic lines with classic looks but killer underneath. It’s like stealth but on hidden steroids. I love this concept. This has been done in the USA for years, about time here in the UK we start to catch on. I’m all in for this ❤. BMW E30 with a BMW M3 F10 engine and all the insides ❤️.

A rotten mk3 1.3L an amazing car and a true classic ? Had quite a few escorts over the years but back then and even now a rotten 1.3L isn’t the most desirable or must be preserved in its original state against all odds of things 😂 yeah the reasons n it wasn’t done as much here is that it really should be going through a full SVA test and receive a Q reg lol, it’s just people sort of forget about that nowadays and try to stay under the radar ( though plastering yourself all over KZbin ain’t exactly doing that lol) 😂

Nice RS /Golf R build. The build kit is a RS 1700T not 1600 as they never made them. RS 1700T was a project ford did but then built the RS200 for rallying.

I changed my engine on my 106 to a vts 16v now thinking what other lump could I fit to get more power, seen a k20 conversion done b4 🤔 might just install a turbo & run it on low boost...

The idea of an RS1700T kitted MK3 shell with the sound of the 5 cylinder has me nursing a bit of a semi. Ford was the first to develop a I5 so it's historcally accurate as well🤔🤫

2/3rds of the weight of a golf I’m guessing ? That shifted 0-30 so impressively 🤣 My bro used to have a black series 2 with 186 Hp years ago and it was rapid but obviously FWD so just spinned a lot

Wouldn't it be much easier to look at what Ford itself did in Brazil and officially put the same engine and transmission from the golf MK3-GTi to work in the Escort Mk4-XR3 after 1989?.... the adaptation is extremely easy and it already has even using modern engines or gearboxes with 6 gears

It's not an RS. It started life as a MK3 Escort 1.3 and had a wide body kit added to cover the wheels so it could be classed as an RS Look-alike
