I remember those adds. The word "Nissan" was in just a white outline while "Datsun" was filled in and coloured. Eventually that would reverse before the name Datsun disappeared. Interesting look into the transition from Datsun to Nissan.

Datsun is a name that Nissan uses in new markets normally, in case the car doesn't do well, it won't tarnish the Nissan Name. They just eliminated the Datsun name in India where it's been used for years.

Always wondered about that. Someone told me in the 70s and 80s it was called Datsun in America because WW2 vets knew about the Nissan name from the war and Nissan was afraid it would be a hard sell, so thus the Datsun name. Might have been one of those stories that just gets circulated around.
