1982 Harley Davidson Shovelhead FXRS Superglide ll
I bought this bike a couple of years ago from someone who had not taken it out of the garage since the 80's.
It had a little over 6000 original miles on it.
The "ham-can" air filter had been replaced with an after market unit that was smaller.
The exhaust had been replaced with a Screamin' Eagle exhaust system.
I was able to track down the original air filter assembly and exhaust on ebay.
It runs way smoother with the original exhaust.

I have the same bike 82 fxrs in the middle of restoration same color combination. All original 13k miles. Love it nice bike keep it going

Watch the top engine mount bracket. The trans side cover top hole where the clutch lever goes in will wear egg shaped.You can replace it with one from a later model bike. Keep a good ground wire from the cases to the frame. My 82 FXRS has 42k on it.

the wheels are the main difference the fxr had spoke wheels the fxrs has mag wheels . I own an 82 fxrs

FXRS had dual front disc brakes. FXR is single disc. FXRS only came in black or black/red.

@@ChefPelle I have a 83 FXRS (shovel) then, it has dual disc (on spoke wheels, with wide glide front end ) and original 5 speed

@doncarlo5 all FXR bikes were 5-speed. Nothing rare about it.
