1982 Sandown 400 - Full Race

Moffat obeyed the Black Flag rules, and pulled into the pits, the time loss was his penalty, he could do no more, and he rightfully won the race. At the time there was NO speed limits in the pits, a bit of common sense and drivers generally slowed, but no rule, so Moffatt didn't slow down, he didn't have to. Rightfully the CAMS Stewards agreed with this, and Moffat was awarded the win later. The next race at Sandown, they put speed bumps in (not joking) Moffat flew over them, until Alan Horsley I believe, physically assaulted Moffat, he slowed down after that, and eventually Sandown had an official pit speed limit. I was very pleased with the crowd, who generally hated the Mazda, but knew what was and what wasn't fair.

Loved it loved it!!! Many many thanks for taking massive effort with the 1982 and 1983 Sandown enduros. U haven't seen them ever since they were broadcasted. Love the old big bangers Group Cs. Great cars, great drivers and great racings. Any chance you have the 1981 ATCC rounds from Adelaide, Surfers and perhaps the famous of them all, the Lakeside cliffhanger. Cheers.

What the hell were they thinking? bloody terrible officials and Moffat did really well to hold it together. As a racing package that little Mazda was leaps ahead of the Ford and Holden, just lacked the torque on the mountain.

😂😂😂 unbeatable it was consistently FLOGGED and moffat being the sour faced cheating pos used an illegal 6 speed box at sandown AND Bathurst which has been PROVEN to be the case. He knew he had no hope of keeping up on the straights with V8s. He was banned for 6 weeks in 78 for using illegal roller rockers on his XC falcon and black flagged at surfers paradise for ignoring a pit penalty which he then IGNORED.

Moffat was saying in a diplomatic way : only Holden are allowed to win and they made the rules so nobody else can win . The parity is still in place today . Round 23 with 22 wins to 1 . Greatest speech in history by Moffat . Embarrassed CAMS so much - the race was won by Moffat .
