This is a new video series titled: “In The Spotlight.” The full-on retrospective video series is still happening, but this new series will be done in conjunction with those. This new series will focus on model specific or year specific models (i.e. 1999 Mustang GT, T-bird Turbo Coupe, etc.). No drinks, no captions, no outro, just raw information on the vehicle in question with this new series. Enjoy!

The ending is awkward. It just...ends. I guess I'm used to creators summarizing the topic, saying "click like & subscribe," or something like "see you next time." It just...ends. 😁

Taurus gets a lot of credit for redefining the car world with aero looks, but the Thunderbird and Tempo deserve more credit. They had rounded corners well before the Taurus arrived.

I agree. The 1983 T-bird was one of the pioneers for the aero look.

I owned two 2008 Sable Premiers. They were the best cars that no one was buying. I bought the first one new and later got a used one. Great cars. Lot's of room, decent power and great ride made these cars great family cars.

I had a 1984 T-Bird. It was my first brand new car. It was a good car. The V8 was not offered that year. I did a lot of custom work on it. I had ground effects and aftermarket wheels on it. I love that car. I traded it in on a 1990 T-Bird.

I briefly owned a Tbird turbo coupe. It was around an 86 or 87. I bought it around 2002-3. It was a low mile one owner and I had bought it to flip it. I did drive it a bit and it was pretty decent. Pretty quick for it's day for sure.

This spotlight series is interesting. I recall aero bird and the 1987 update that changed the game. Thank you for mentioning Jack Telnack. That car stayed competitive. I recall the 1980-1982 model that flopped. That is because it was such a big change from 1977-1979. Those 1981-1982 models had no power either. I thought the Mercury Cougar looked better. What was interesting was the Lincoln Mark VII was on the same platform as the other two. The Lincoln design was taking from the aerobird concept car. I must admit eventhought it was successful, I was not a fan of the headlight design on Fords from 1987-whenever they stopped used the Taurus look headlight design on every Ford product. I liked the headlights on the 1989 redesign. They later brought those Taurus headlight design back in the 1990's. Those cars could be well equiped. The LX 1987 and up Thunderbird had the same styling with an egg crate grille. Thank you for the spotlight.

Thanks for giving it a watch. Yep, Jack Telnack influenced a lot of Ford cars. One of his least successful ones is the 1996 Taurus. They tried to recapture what they did for 1986, but failed miserably. They did good on the 83-88 T-bird. The 89 was even better.

@@MotorMaster_Stunticon The graphics are grand on your video. I was just watching them again. Jack did quite a bit. He wanted to keep Town Car around and downsize to something like 206-208 inches long. It would have still be big. I remember the 1996 Taurus as we know it was a bust. That Taurus was finally correctec around 2000 I think.That is how it should have looked in 1996. I still prefer the Mercury Sable for its looks. That 1983 - 1998 Thunderbird was a winner. No denying that. I know the aero look started with Thunderbird in 1983, the Mark VII and Tempo and Topaz in 1984 and it just blossomed from there.

Thanks for watching twice. I still prefer the Sable for its looks too. Especially the ‘96. The design language just looked so much cleaner than what the Taurus was doing. Speaking of Sable, a new video on that car is around the corner, so stay tuned.

The 87 Aerobird looked great, but I did like the Super Coupe better. Love the intro Rob! FANCY!!!!!!

I always enjoy your videos. One mistake though. According to the brochure the three speed was dropped across the board in 1987 and the four speed automatic overdrive was made standard for the V6 and V8 cars and optional on the turbo. While I really liked this car the Super Coupe was lightyears ahead when it arrived for 1989. I seriously wanted its platform mate the Cougar XR7. It was a bit out of my price range being a 16 year old kid working weekends at Disney in 1990. Keep up the good work 👏.
