We had an '81 hatchback in black with black interior. Bought it new and it served well for 14 years.

These Eagles were ahead of there time. I had a friend who had one, they lasted forever, very well made go virtually anywhere. I use to see then on the road into the 90s.

Nice looking car,and the engine compartment is awesome. Even the interior looks more like 28,000 miles than over 280,000. My niece owned an AMC Eagle hatchback with all wheel drive back in the early 80's. The one she owned was Black as well, not sure it was a Sport SX4 though. It gave her good service for many years. There were a number of those around growing up in western NY. They did well in the snow and with that higher ground clearance could go through a lot of snow. My father drove an AMC Hornet, AMC's were pretty popular, not very reliable.. but really, only Toyota's were reliable vehicles back then.
