Thank you for putting this on youtube! I am actually a Dolphin fan from Oregon and went to this game with a Raider buddy from Long Beach. The game did not turn out the way I wanted but was great to see Dan Marino in his debut even though he didn't start! Thanks again for posting a video from a great era in the NFL.

I am a diehard Raiders fan til this day. I love watching old Raiders games from the 70's & 80's especially when they played other great teams that were on their level like the mighty Dolphins. Two storied franchises that HATED each other to the fullest.

It's funny to watch the games back in the 80s and think that you were right there in the stadium at the time 40 years younger . Wow I wish I could go back in time!

@@CROWOREGON I wish I could go back with you! Why was football so much better in the 70's and 80's and so pathetic now?
@CROWOREGON Жыл бұрын
@@EzraStyles-b6n I agree. Today's players wouldn't last a month playing the way the players from the 70's and 80's played. They are all overpaid now. Back then the players played tough and hard because they enjoyed the game.

Shula always struggled with the Raider teams of this era. It was always his Kryptonite. Even with the great 84 team he couldn't get past the Raider hump. I firmly believe that even if they had pulled out the playoff game against Seattle, they are still losing the AFC championship to the Raiders.

Lester Hayes and Mike Haynes shut down Art Monk and Downtown Charlie Brown. Skins were forced to play the short game and got stuffed. Then Marcus Allen ran all over them in the 2nd half.

This was the night that the career of David Woodley ended. Very sad. He was a Super Bowl starter the year before. He later confessed he was terrified in that game; thus, he choked. He also choked a year before in the epic game against San Diego. But Marino choked in 1983 against lowly Seattle. I wish Shula had gone to a two-quarterback offense in 1983 to keep opponents off balance. The mobility of Woodley combined with the arm of Marino would have been something to see in game after game.
@stuvo1977 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Fulton Walker had two costly fumbles. The better team won. Seattle was the better team. Seattle was worse the next year. They really missed Curt Warner. He gave them balance and took the pressure off Dave Kreig. Dave was more of a game manager.
@jmbuff19 ай бұрын
@@stuvo1977 Agree on Walker. He had back to back fumbles on kickoffs at the very end of the game. Fumbles on consecutive touches! How often do you see that? Marino was never able to come off the bench to even try a game winning drive. That one is all on Walker.
@jmbuff19 ай бұрын
Woodley was never an NFL caliber QB. It's amazing Shula stuck with him as long as he did. It should have been a clue to move on when going to your backup Strock was always a lift for the team. It's supposed to be the opposite! In the second half of Super Bowl 17, he didn't complete a single pass. Terrible.
