Wow amazing job. That shaft belt looked little lose.
@AJRestoration3 жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍 Yes it is a little loose, I would rather have the belt slip under heavy load, than the motor stalling and burning out. Belts are replaceable, motor not so much.

13:01 nice, somebody who knows how to properly install bearings. I saw another video where the guy oiled up the shaft before pressing the bearings... why would you do that?there isn't supposed to be any lubricant used when pressing bearings unless I've been taught wrong 😂 great video!

Nice job. Maybe a little extra work on filing and filling in surfaces before painting would have taken it to an even higher level. Definitely have subscribed. Could you leave the captions up on the screen just a bit longer? Slow reader here.

Well...apart from not showing how you rewired it, and a couple of fasteners that you forgot....not a bad restoration at all! :) I like the colour. One thing though...did the belt seem a little too loose to you? Looked like it in the video. Just wondering. :)
@AJRestoration3 жыл бұрын
The rewiring was a little hard to film, the box on the motor was so damn tight. I thought id skip it since there wasn't much to it. The switch also, all it does is break the live wire. I made the belt a little loose on purpose, that way when I grind it does not stall the motor. I would rather replace the belt than the motor. (the belt does not slip unless you grind REALLY hard) haha
@garymucher95903 жыл бұрын
Nice finish. Just be really careful with an open belt drive. It is a finger grabber for sure. But the refurbishing looks great. Thumbs Up!
@AJRestoration3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, That is the thing about any power tool, respect it and it wont eat any fingers. Like AVE said, don't stick your fingie where you don't stick your dinkie.

That part where you were power coating I heard a whisper," You alright" or " You're right" kind of erie if you ask me, just saying but good repair work though

Tighten that belt! Pull the motor back. Don’t install belts like that either.. you can break strands in the belt and break the belt. But it looks good and I’m glad you removed the added on pieces.
@davidheidbrink11353 жыл бұрын
Very nice but since you polished the drive roller I bet you abrasive belt slips if you sand a bigger piece, am I right?
@AJRestoration3 жыл бұрын
Funny enough it does not slip. That is what I thought after I polished the roller. I guess the belt tentioner is doing its part. I did test it with larger metal and wooden objects, I even pushed it so hard the motor stalled. Its ready for good old hard work.

🤨 - Before you’d restored it, the pulley had a grinding/sharping wheel on it and you appear to have omitted it?
@AJRestoration3 жыл бұрын
I could not source another grinding stone locally, for now it's going to be like that until I make a custom wooden sanding disk, or find a grinding stone that fits.

@@AJRestoration I see that now. That goes against most other similar switches, where you push it towards the function you want. Now you have to flip it to the right to get the left function.

What about the several parts, or two chapters I assume, bothers you? We uploaded the first chapter while we were finishing the second chapter. We would rather upload once a week and keep our viewers entertained than have our viewers wait two weeks for an extra long restoration video.
