@hardcoremedic A few B groups had kompressors also to charge at lower rpm's. Eg. Delta S4 or completely infamous Polonez 2000 Turbo.

WRC means World Rally Championship, the series which started in 1973. You are talking about World Rally Cars, which are actually derived from group A cars, the former A8 class (2L + turbo engines). There are many more groups such as N, F (H in some countries) and different classes.

1983 was the first year of group B and seeing as the rally shown was round 1 the Monte most of the cars in teh rally including the Ascona, the old Renault 5s and the Quattro are actually Group 4 cars not group B.

Nice bit of film from a classic 'Monte'. The 'Works' Ascona 400s look really cool in Rothmans colours.(p.s. interesting to see that idiot spectators weren't only confined to Portugal or Italy....)

keep it awd.. because i have driven awd on slippery surfaces, trust me.. you can get sideways in funky ways, with awd on slick stuff, fast, sideways, not as boring as you think. you are watching pavement. watch dirt or ice.. awd is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. it really is. my wrx is a ball when the conditions get slick.

This is not WRC. REÀD THIS! WRC started in 1997, before then this class was called Group A Rally, and the cars in this vid, woch lasted from to 1986, was known as Group B.

no. they need ot get subaru back. i miss seeing the blue and gold sti on the screen. or any rally here in usa. rally is taboo, because it interferes with the racket that is nascar. ho hum
