Күн бұрын

We picked up this 1984 Chevrolet K20 farm pickup when a friend said his neighbor had a pickup sitting in their shed they wanted to part with since it was taking up space. They allegedly parked it just a "few" years ago when the hired man smoked the clutch. Lets see if we can get it running and back on the road in proper form! This K20 pickup is sold! As always, thanks for watching!

@@jockmchaggis6797 I'd say France has most countries beat but everything is different. All cars are made to break but Italian cars REALLY define junk. All American cars are the same, some have extra steps, some have less steps. Japan had some good cars but even their manufacturers have cons. You'll never find a perfect car and it's quite unfortunate but I still enjoy working on cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, four wheelers and BMX bikes. I'll work on any vehicle. Pretty much just anything with wheels.

Hey Mortske & Duff. That was a really great informative video. I learn something new every time. My 26 T rat rod is done and licensed. Just waiting for the 4.5 inch wide old school mag wheels and tires for the front to arrive from Summit. I have done probably 500 or more clutches during my career as a heavy equipment mechanic. From semi's to pick ups. You made installing that shifter clamp look easy. I can recall fighting many of those. They almost go then slip off. Here we call Crescent wrenches Mexican speeder wrenches. One for Puddin is an Oklahoma socket set. Square bodies are hot here on the west coast. I have offers to buy my 86 C30 crew cab dually all the time. I bought it new. Just got home from the gym and looked forward to spending time with you and Duff. Thanks. Have a great holiday.

What a nice low rust truck. Truly amazing how some don't hardly rust at all. The reason your clutch pedal wanted to stick to the floor is there might be a clutch assist spring under the dash. It connects to the upper part of your clutch pedal arm and is angled in such a manner that it creates kind of a detent action. As you push down the clutch pedal, the spring will stretch a little but when the pedal reaches about half way down, the spring starts to contract again and pulls the pedal to the floor. When there's resistance against a working pressure plate, it helps assist in disengaging the clutch. If there's no resistance from a pressure plate, the pedal drops to the floor and stays. My old 1972 F250 has one and that spring is pretty hefty. What's really fun is mine has plastic bushings the spring hooks ride on to keep from wearing on the metal where they hook. I needed to replace those bushings. It wasn't hard popping the spring off but boy was it fun trying to stretch it out to get it back in place...

I have been working on cars since I was 10 years old, and by my own admission I am a hack mechanic. I am also a handyman. I am also a registered nurse, with a background in ICU. Never owned a new car in my life. Still dragging home old cars and restoring them, to the best of my ability anyway. Just want to tell you from the heart that your videos have been a lot to me, and they are honest. And I don't give a #$$_&#@ what anyone says, you are a damn good mechanic. And at more than one point I have laughed out loud hysterically at your humor. May God richly bless your channel, and may you succeed to your heart's content. Darryl Jones Nurse Central Florida

Would love to see more rust repair on these old cars and trucks before they leave you. They put this ridiculous hard plastic skid plate over each of the gas tanks in those truck which did nothing more than trap dirt, mud and moisture between it and the tank and caused pin hole leaks everywhere!..i personally have tried every tank repair known to man and everything works- for about 2 weeks!..the only real fix for the squarebody is new tanks- trust me~

I've always been under the impression the "C" designation was Chevrolet, and "K" was GMC not 2wd, 4wd, or weight class, 1500, 2500, 3500, etc... never seen a Chevrolet truck with K designation, or a GMC with a C designation. Reply??

Automotive electrical work just sucks. Period. Especially on GMs. I've done my share. That whole "Well, I got brake lights, I got a left taillight, I have no backup lights.....oh, and suddenly the dash lights no longer illuminate and the horn won't blow". Uuuugggghhhhhh......

I have an 84 C-10 and the rear-view mirror kept falling off of the windshield. One day I was at the junkyard and discovered that a Scion Van (looks like a boot) mirror will screw to the roof panel of my truck. NO MORE falling mirror. Just some FREE advice. Do with it what you want. good luck.

Ye old red ranch rig, not a bad looking truck from far away. Body is not to bad , but she looks like she was rode hard and put away wet. Definitely some farmers were in there with with some baler twine and scotch tape. This was a great episode, it covered a lot of different repairs and skills in order to get it right. Nice of the Muff'en Man to let you use his shop. Hot Damn he's got a nice set up there. Mortske might be running a bit hot because Muffins shop probably has in-floor heating.. Standing on a warm floor with radiant heat rising up on your body is very effective & efficient, But Mortske, he's a thinking man, and he knows that a suitcase of icy-cold samiches should keep a feller Kool for the duration. The resurfacing segment was a nice Lil' tidbit of video, not enough O's in the word smooth to describe how slick that clutch went in. I especially liked the body work you did on the rear fender tailgate corner, and that was bad ass tree stump trick. Nuff said, Duff says
