I picked up this 1970 Dodge Power Wagon W200 from a farm estate sale recently. The previous owner said they parked it when the rear differential failed. It's got a 318 V8 with 2 barrel carburetor, 4 speed manual transmission, Dana 60 rear axle and PTO driven Braden winch! We think it was a retired Army unit. Lets see if we can get this old girl running for the first time since it was retired 37 years ago in 1984! The War Wagon has been SOLD! Thanks Bo!!! Thanks for watching everyone!

I've been working on cars and trucks a long time and I've never seen anyone break engines lose the way you do so you're obviously doing something right. Whenever I've worked on a locked up engine it was either rebuild it or scrap it. I think it's pretty cool how you just beat the s*** out of them until they run.

I once Broke an 8N Ford tractor motor loose by letting it roll off the back of the Trailer at 30mph and dropping the clutch PSA : Whatever you do don't do that! Don't get me wrong, It worked perfectly but, This is a very bad idea, I almost ran over myself because I flew forward far enough that I was sitting on the radiator cap... it's definitely one of those life flashing before your eyes moments..... I'm fairly sure that if the tractor hadn't started and been full throttle in high gear it would have been the end of me or at least close to it. because it wasn't just broke loose, but was actually running, I had to climb back into the seat and keep it from going into the ditch before I could even think about how close I came to running myself over with an antique Ford tractor.... I'm also sure I'd have been one of the people on that show " dumb ways to die " if it HAD gone wrong.

I quite like seeing the new ones that don’t run, as well as the victories. Most you tubers roll up on an old rig, and 10 minutes later they’re driving down the road - I’m calling shenanigans!

You'd be surprised how often they'll come right back to life. My daily driver had been given up on and sat for several years. It had a broken body ground wire. Hooked it up and it fired right up. Had I been making a video it wouldn't have been 10 minutes long. And then some of them fight you every step of the way.

In the late 80's, when I was in college at NAU in Flagstaff, my dad gave me a '73 Dodge long bed. It had the 318 in it. It was a great old truck, but that's the operative word: "old." It had only 15 years on it but that truck was OLD!!! Not surprising, I suppose, since it lived its life on a farm in Nebrasks. It was fun to go tearing around the desert in. I didn't have to worry about scratching the paint!

I had a 68 ex Air force W200 power wagon crew cab sweptline that still had the 17-1/2 inch rims on it 318 4spd divorced gear drive transfer case with Dana 60s with 4:10 with a locker in the rear with the HD 12 inch clutch that was hydraulic that was one of the best trucks I ever had that I drove every day for many years . I went to put new U joints in it when I bought it & found out the military U joints were about 4 times the size as a regular civilian W200 uses . It had grease zirks in all of the leaf spring bushings instead of rubber & everything had drains on it to drain any water out of the drive train after fording through water . One thing I also liked about these trucks is that hood will fold back far enough that you can pull the engine out without having to pull the hood off like other trucks . I bought mine back in the early 90s for 1000 bucks & drove it home & it ran & drove good other than the old flat spotted tires on it which I swapped out for Ford 3/4 wheels & 35 inch BFG mud terrains . The engine ran great except the power sucked so I put a 340 cam in it & a Edelbrock performer aluminum intake with the Edelbrock 600 CFM carburetor jetted for performance with the Mopar performance electronic ignition & it was like night & day on performance & not bad fuel mileage as long as you stayed out of the 4 barrels . Whish I had it still because they go for big bucks now & I looked up the numbers of them made & it was less than 2,000 if I remember for the 68 military models .

@@MortskeRepair Yeah they don't make trucks like those anymore . Everything made now is made to fail prematurely & is over priced junk in my opinion because of a throw away society . Last winter when I had - 27 below temps in Wisconsin my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado wouldn't start even though it has a new starter & battery because the battery froze & went partially dead . Where the battery sits & it's mount is small so I can't even fit a larger battery in it if I wanted because of the way GM designed it which sucks but the funny thing is while I put the charger on it I decided to see if my 82 K10 plow truck would start that I put a 400 SBC in it 3 going on 4 years ago & it started after pumping the heck out of the Edelbrock carburetor on it even with 10w - 30 oil in the engine non synthetic & no block heater so these new fangled trucks to me just aren't worth anything close to what the stealerships want lol .

Dodge's "Made to be worked on." NOT the slogan to go with to sell trucks, but accurate. Although it may have won them a truth in advertising award!

Top tools of all time for beginner mechanics , vice grips, crescent wrench, channel locks and harbor freight jack handles.l have a big drawer in my tool box full of 1.25 ton harbor freight jack parts.Hard not to buy them at only 60 bucks on sale. ln 1994 l bought the last USA made Lincoln 2 ton jack at Herk's Auto Parts in Pontiac Michigan for 300 bucks , doesn't leak down and works perfectly only problem is it gets harder and harder to drag around the shop as l get older and weaker!, Only auto part better than flex radiator hose is flex exhaust pipe!

Another great vid, Mortske. Enjoyed it. It's Monday Night, so I'm gonna go see if ol' Puddin' came thru for us on a holiday. I'm glad you did. I learn more about these things when you tear into them than just from you getting them running. Happy Memorial Day, folks. 🇺🇲 Remember what this day's all about.

Hey Mortske, tech tip for you, the letters stamped on the diff caps tell you which way to reinstall them in case you mix em up. You'll notice the random letter (yours was U) was probably tipped one way or upright, there will be a matching one close by (like on the seal area), just match them up. The case is line bored to match, so don't install them any other way, your bearings won't last long! Thanks for the videos! Love them! - a fellow NODAK'er

You should totally come to California and buy a car from the desert. You'd have a blast. Maybe a pay a little more than $500. But you'd have a rust free experience. These cars you find up there are scary.

An old timer here, I agree with the other experts, with an engine that's been sitting, absolutely a little fogging oil in the cylinders! It certainly can't hurt ya reckon.

Thank you for the power wagon video it’s a 318 in the M890 or W-200 they didn’t have the 360 yet great truck almost as great as the M880 or w-100 like my 1974 W-100 power wagon that I’ve had when I was in high school that in 1979 and my 16 year old son now drives to high school now

I save a few of the aerosol spray nozzles for checking the fluid levels in diffs and transfer cases. Just fold the end to a 90* angle and it works great for checking the gear oil level.

I had 2 of those if it's 1960 with a 3-speed floor shift don't slam the 1-2 shift. The shift lever will disconnect itself from the forks , making you shiftless. Really quite amusing the way it's made!

Dude I wouldn't worry about what people say, I think you're doing a good job. I appreciate that your still doing what got everyone watching and working on cars that probably actually shouldn't run. Some of the other channels are starting to do builds that the average guy can't afford. Hot rod mag and these other type var shows are doing shit that is far beyond my skill level but what your doing is fairly attainable for anyone. It's apparent you know what you're doing just keep rollin and we'll keep watching. I just wish I could find some of those cool vehicles myself. Lol
