The cars, drivers, commentating, engine sounds, camera angles....ALL OF IT was at its peak. The best NASCAR ever was and I'm glad I was alive to see it.

There's too much wrong with NASCAR today to list. I'm just glad that I get to watch racing from the best decades in racing, the 1950s thru the 1990s. This is great, also SMIFFTV posts some great stuff.

I remember back when I was a kid growing up during the 70's. Richard Petty was my favorite driver. The #43 car was so iconic and incredibly cool to see run! I'll never forget when I got my Richard Petty AFX/TYCO slot car. I collect, or I used to collect Hot Wheels until my health declined. About 4 or 5 years ago I started working on a Nascar collection. I really wish that these Die-Cast companies would focus on some of the classic cars. Like the 1980's, specifically 83-87, or the 1970's as well. The Petty Dodge Daytona "Super-Bird" was one other top cars! Being able to watch these races from the 70's and 80's brings back some extremely great memories. Thanks for sharing these races with us. For me anyway Nascar was at it's best from 1972-1990. I still enjoy Nascar now but the cars basically look the same, and the few things that make them different is really subtle. I will say that they improved the 2024 cars over the last few years, but still not much better however. I definitely subscribed to this channel and I'm looking forward to seeing other 70's, 80's, and 90's races. Man the 70's and 80's had some really amazing, iconic, incredibly talented, and very aggressive and fearless.

**FACTS BEFORE the 1984 DAYTONA 500** · Contrary to the past couple of seasons, only a couple of top drivers changed cars for 1984. Richard Petty left the family’s team to go with Mike Curb, Ricky Rudd and Dale Earnhardt swapped cars, Geoff Bodine joined the new Hendrick Motorsports and Neil Bonnet joined Junior Johnson, who now had 2 cars. · The 6th Clash was marked by the crazy blowover crash of Ricky Rudd (Ford #15) coming off T4 and by the last lap 3-way fight for the win, which went to Neil Bonnet (GM #12). · Cale Yarborough (GM #28) and Terry Labonte (GM #44) got the front row for the Daytona 500, both at close to 202mph. · Duel #1 was marked by the many car-related retirements (7 out of 36) and a 3-car crash halfway through with no serious injuries. Cale Yarborough won it easily ahead of Elliott (Ford #9), Baker (Ford #21), Bonnet (GM #12) and Bodine (GM #5). · Sneva, Petty and Earnhardt all suffer from car troubles on Duel #2, a race most remembered by Randy LaJoie’s vicious half-roll where he hit the inside wall coming out of T4. 1983 champion Bobby Allison (GM #22) won it ahead of Gant (GM #33), Labonte (GM #44) and Benny Parsons (GM #55). · In the end, Tom Sneva was the highest-profile non-qualifier. Other well-known drivers that had problems in the duels like Foyt, Ruttman, Petty and Earnhardt all made the field thanks to their qualifying speed.

I think they used to turn the gauges so that the needles were all pointed in the same direction if everything was normal, so the driver could just take a very quick look, see where the needles were at without trying to read the numbers, and then look back to the track.
