Thanks for the videos! I'm in the middle of fixing my tank on a 83 and you're the only source I've found with similar setup. Looks like I'm picking up a used tank and sending unit tonight.

@@TheRamRanch external is definitely easier for sure. But yeah, id recommended using the external rather than building what I did. Unless someone has a lot of time to spend on it. Getting a later model efi tank would be the best choice. I think 90/91 tanks were efi 🤷🏽♂️

Looks like your filter stayed in the tank. Notice the filter on the end of you new unit, your old unit had no filter on it. Also, your bed most likely weighs about 175-200 lbs max. Also, oil pressure?
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
When I converted it over to an electric pump I took the screen off since it was in bad shape and wasn't going to do anything. The oil pressure is a mechanical gauge mounted low on the dash so the in-dash one is disconnected. It's got 65psi cold 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for watching. The digital thing on my dash is the Holley Sniper controller. It does read the AFR and several other things. You can program it to display whatever sensors you have installed, for the most part.

I have a 1978 D150 long bed, I just remove all of the bolts and loosen the last two at the bumper. I lifted the bed on one side and put a jack stand underneath, then I worked on the tank. In also thinking about removing the charcoal canister and adding the rear tank instead of having the side tank.

@@HFG I'm trying to figure out how to completely remove the charcoal canister there but I don't know what to do with the fuel tank vent hose. No one in the forums for first gen has been able to give me a clear answer. It's got to be some sort of adapter you can put at the end of the hose to keep it venting.
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
@@josepena5164 just unplug the vent hose and run the end somewhere that water and mud won't splash into it or bugs won't block it off. The charcoal canister just removes the saw gas smell. Why do you want to get rid of it?
@josepena51642 жыл бұрын
@@HFG Most of the first gen guys remove it. It's obsolete emissions technology. It's a charcoal canister from 84 so it's no good, no one sells aftermarket charcoal canisters for this truck. And mine is leading to a few vacuum leak issues that have been a nightmare to try and resolve.
@HFG2 жыл бұрын
@@josepena5164 gotcha. Yeah then just remove it and maybe put something like an axle vent cap on the hose and tuck it away. My canister still works fine after all of these years. If it's unplugged I can smell fuel more than when it's plugged in so I just leave it there. Only the fuel tank vent goes to it. The engine isn't connected to any of the trucks original systems now anyway other than a couple of gauges and the ignition.
