Fixing a Broken Gas Tank on this 1984 Dodge Ram!

I think I've lost more fuel than I've burned so far. 6th times a charm, right? Lets get this 1984 Dodge Ram D150 #muscletruck fixed!

It's another great video. I had the same problem and fixed the same way . Great job. I did have a pin hole when I filled up with gas, but a little flexseal and it is fixed.

Nice job on the plastic welding. With the screening embedded it should be very, very solid I would think. It looks like the problem is solved. The nozzle shutoff at the gas pump works on back pressure. If the leak was that bad the back pressure against the nozzle was likely not enough to trigger the cutoff. Look forward to seeing whether this fix actually works. Be safe and stay well.

I'm currently working on the same year make model.. it leaks fule too. I've been wondering what to do about that issue. 1986 318la roller 485lift/262duration/114lsa Edelbrock avs2 carb atk reman engine/tci stage 2 shift 727. Can't wait to take it for a cruise 😅

Sweet! Sounds like a fun truck. If you are thinking of taking the tank out I have a few videos showing how I did it without a lift. It sucks, but I guess it could be worse :)

Oh man! The lift has been a life saver. Even though it's the cheapest and sketchiest lift ever, I'm still really happy to have it. I'll try to upgrade it in the future so I don't die.

You know, long strand (kitty hair) fiberglass filler is i.m.h.o. the best repair patch for plastic tanks

Just make sure it's super clean and drill relief holes at the ends, every split and every couple of inches. For anything much longer than 2 inches, use stainless screen to reinforce it. Oh and for fuel delivery, try using a matt type sock that they use in racing cells, it wicks fuel throughout the length of the sock, just use one long enough to reach.

I was considering the mats or the foam, but people kept saying that they clogged their screens/pump. 🤷🏽‍♂️ They Hydramats are crazy money for a tank this big. Over $1000
